San Jose unveils new climate plan
San Jose Mercury-News ^ | February 15, 2018 | By EMILY DERUY

As part of a sweeping new climate plan to make San Jose more environmentally friendly, the city is angling to become one of the first in the U.S. to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to meet the levels outlined in the ambitious Paris Agreement.

The city will launch San Jose Clean Energy - an alternative to PG&E known as a community-choice energy program - later this year. On Thursday, Mayor Sam Liccardo said the city will make 100 percent emission-free electricity available to everyone who participates in the program.

By 2030, Liccardo said, the city plans to reduce carbon emissions from car trips by a million tons a year by expanding ride sharing, public transit options and the use of electric vehicles. The plan also outlines a goal to reduce per capita residential water consumption by 30 percent by that time. And by 2040, Liccardo wants the city to become the first in the world to produce a gigawatt of solar power, enough to power 250,000 homes.

Climate issues, Liccardo said during a blustery news conference outside City Hall where the mayor joked the city would invest in windmills, “require us to look beyond the immediate horizon.”

The new plan comes as the Trump administration has tried to walk back Obama-era environmental goals, angering activists.

President Trump announced in June his decision to pull out of the 2015 Paris accord, a climate change agreement between nearly 150 countries backed by former President Obama.

I think it is fine that you can have the choice to buy 100% green electricity.

I hope they understand, as they will find, that it will be much more expensive electricity to purchase for the benefit of feeling morally superior. But as long as I am not forced to participate, then you go girl.

I wonder how dedicated the “green” purchaser of more expensive energy really are though? When it comes to buying expensive energy,, or food? More expensive energy,,,or a car? A new TV? A new computer or iPhone???

Socialism only works, (as the total economic failure that it is), when it is forced on everyone. Or at least the non elite.

Mayor Sam Liccardo said the city will make 100 percent emission-free electricity available to everyone who participates in the program.

Shouldn’t it be Mandatory for Public Employees then???

P.E.A.C.E

Public
Employee
Anti
Carbon
Emission

Act.

All persons that can be classified as a “public employee” or a retired “public employee” shall be prohibited from using, owning, or possessing any means, modes, or methods of Transportation that emit carbon emissions of any kind.

Any violation of this act, shall be a Felony, punishable by a Mandatory 5 years in State Prison, Immediate termination and elimination of any and all pension and or retirement benefits.

Put your Money where your mouth is, lead by example.

there’s very little that can possibly be done to make living in a city tolerable, where residents are counted by the square inch...it’s congestion, not pollution, that makes it unlivable...

Off topic, but city related...

I had a supervisor once called me in his office...he had a map spread...He asked me where was San Jose???

I pointed it out on the map and he said, “No, no, No! That’s San “Josie”...I want San “Hosay”!

True story....

Deporting all the illegals would do a lot to help with water and traffic and all other infrastructure causing climate problems.

Here, we have to buy low flush and whatnot. Of course, after the inspectors leave, that is switched out to workable options. But we’ve already had to purchase the unworkable green stuff.

The radical, power mad left is so bored with its own uselessness, it has to come up with oppressive crap like this. Insanity.

Climate science is political science, and there should be no doubt that the Global Warming/Climate Change movement IS Socialism at the least, and has its roots, if not agenda, in Marxism.
-The deception is that it isn’t.

This has to be opposed in a full frontal assault, or it will be our downfall.

So now we are the rebels, we fight “the man” and his low flow green appliances... and they (green promoters) are the conformists? Forcing mindless conformity...

It is weird how the political poles have switched roles since the ‘60s.

And well before that, everyone will be reminded that eating only one meal a day makes thems stronger.
