California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is threatening to sue if the Trump administration includes a question regarding citizenship on the 2020 census. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Becerra worries citizenship questions will dissuade some California residents from taking the census, thereby under-representing themselves and running the risk of a loss of federal funding for certain parts of the state.
Becerra is part of a coalition of 19 attorneys general who fighting against inclusion of a citizenship. They sent a letter to U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross on Monday, in which Becerra described counting everyone, citizen or not, as a sacred responsibility. He wrote:
What the Trump Administration is requesting is not just alarming, it is illegal. The Constitution requires that, every 10 years, we accurately count every person in our country, regardless of citizenship status. This is a sacred responsibility. It determines how many Congressional seats each state receives and how billions of dollars in federal funds are distributed. At the local level, it should also produce an accurate population count that our communities can rely on to identify the need for critical services such as disaster relief, infrastructure, public health, and police and fire protection.

Someone should sue the idiot AG for being such a moron.
No standing. Becerra should be in prison for aiding and abetting illegals.
I dont suppose that you have considered that he might just have standing, if he himself is here illegally.
Someone should sue the idiot AG for being such a moron.
That is not illegal. Illegally aiding and abetting foreign invaders would seem more promising.
Legal...schmegal.
Yeah, well...
Why put off the 2nd civil war anymore? We are the only side not fighting it as it is now.
I know.
Let’s count them as 3/5 of a person.
FU Bacera, and the donkey you rode in on.
Exactly. The original constitution had the census count EVERYONE but slaves were counted separately. Similarly it makes for sound public policy to understand how many illegals reside in every state, but of course this is another instance where the liberals believe ignorance is bliss. Hopefully he will bring the lawsuit soon as I can see this one going to SCOTUS after the ultra left 9th circuit rules...
Xavier Becerra was the chair of the Hispanic Caucus when he held a congressional seat, and he clearly has a personal bias.
I suspect that that prospect is looming on the horizon for the little beaner.
when is the long arm of the law going to get around to grabbing Becerra by the scruff for his somewhat questionable pay to play history?
Hov-ee-air is gonna stroke out one of these days. Need to keep pushing him.
