And it's hard to blame them. They pay so much money for the rights to broadcast the Olympics, and they have to generate viewership here in the U.S. That's why the coverage is about 10% sports and 90% "special interest stories" that are designed to capture an American female TV audience.

Yep. Which is why my time with the Olympics is extremely limited, if I watch at all.

Too bad because if they did it right they wouldn’t have to worry about their return on investment. They should have learned from ABC, and how they avoided disaster by airing the Wide World of Sports.
But history smacks of the ‘patriarchy’, so they ignore it.
