Although recent state and federal measures should help prevent opioids from being prescribed or over-prescribed to minors, its unclear just how often doctors are prescribing the highly addictive drug to Texas children since regulations tracking and analyzing opioids in children are lax. Allison Benz, executive director of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, said children may be prescribed opioids for routine procedures, such as treatment of a torn ACL or wisdom teeth removal. Its what happens afterwards, when a child possibly becomes addicted, thats an issue. She said a child might like the way it feels and then go searching in the parents or grandparents medicine cabinets, or even steal opioids when theyre visiting their friends. Eventually, that could lead to a dangerous life of addiction.

Good Lord.
Hey whatever happened with the issue you had where the doc or whatever she was wouldn’t give you Valium but gave you klonopin instead, or at least a script.
Were you able to find someone to give you the valium again?
Guess you never got Shingles, lol.
There is an epidemic today of young adults overdosing on drugs
.we all know this. I remember years ago wondering what will happen to all of these children who were given prescription drugs for behavior issues, beginning in elementary school. Could it be we are now seeing the consequence of that?
Wonder if anybody has done a study to see the percentage of people who are addicted or dead now to whether they were introduced to drugs as children, and took them regularly.
It seems to me that once they are used to taking them, and the resulting calming effects
.that it would be an easy transition to the illegal stuff later in life.
I’d volunteer to confiscate the medication and I promise to dispose of them properly.
NO, APN who thinks she is a Doctor but doesn’t have the education level of a GP, still with out any Neuropathy relief. Still recouping from the ER trip week ago Fri from what they said was Diverticulitis, Gastro re-read the CT says it’s the lower tip of colon that is swollen and inflamed. Pain got out of control, still not well controlled, had to double the 2.5mg LOMOTIL for pain. BP is fluxating even resting rate. See him the 21st. Have to call the Cardio Monday. Will see the lone Internist next Primary visit in April. All the Specialist are booked solid for 3 months or more, they are the best in the area thus highly sought after. Staying isolated to avoid the Flu as vaccine is worthless especially the N3H2.
The new proposed TN OPIOID MANAGEMENT laws will get the class 4 Valium and force me into a unconstitutional data base as a OPIOID user. But it’s not touching the same class Xanax which is MORE addictive. Guess Panic/Anxeity is more important than Neuropathy. Those Snowflakes can’t cope with life and need to be drugged for it.
There was a kid in spec. ed. who wandered around like a zombie when he was on his meds. However, if the parents let the meds run out, he’d be a more normal happy inquisitive kid. Night and day. Such a shame.
