One pilot in serious condition * Israel attacks Syrian, Iranian targets in fresh strike * Rocket sirens sound throughout northern Israel
An Israeli F-16 was downed Saturday morning after Israel intercepted an Iranian drone launched from Syria into Israeli territory. According to the Israeli army, Syrian anti-aircraft missiles targeted the jet after Israel responded to the infiltration of the drone with a strike in Syria.
The two F-16 pilots ejected as the plane went down in northern Israel. The pilots were taken to the hospital in stable condition. One of the pilots is in serious condition. Following the downing of the jet Israel responded with a fresh "large-scale strike" in Syria.......

Looks like the S-400 is some serious hardware.
Debka has already published a story linking Russia to the air defense system used to take down the Israeli jet.
My understanding of how the Israelis were conducting operations over Syrian territory was that they never entered Syrian air space. (They use precision glide bombs which have a range sufficient to hit much of the important Syrian targets.) It is not clear from the article but the clear interpretation is that the jet was shot down over Syrian air space but crashed in Israel. I suspect the plane never entered Syrian air space. This is probably why the Israelis have decided to take out missile systems inside Syria. They are likely targeting those systems that could shoot down planes in Israel.
Look for Iran to ramp up operations conducted from Lebanon. They will use the Lebanese as human shields.
Debka says a lot of things.
Some may be true.
They give some facts and add in the spin-propaganda.
I believe s200. Also the plane wasn’t shot down but abandoned. Then targeted by multiple long range SAMs like s200/300/400 it is better strategy to eject than trying to evade them. These are pretty much capable to overcome countermeasures and the payload aren’t manpads. You’d get blasted to tiny pieces upon hit.
Thank you for that info. Facinating! There’s some serious shiite going on over there. Iran really took advantage of obama’s pallets of US cash to spread sophisticated hardware to our enemies. Frakin traitor.
IDF has tried its luck with F35 this way in October. They have managed to ‘evade’ direct hit but the plane was write off.
why does Likud want war so badly this Spring ?
Tell me about it...agree, get out of dodge before half a dozen missiles streak towards you.
“why does Likud want war so badly this Spring ?”
Perhaps to protect the Jooos there?
That was incredibly bigoted thinking there.
You done messed up A-aron!
Just a simple observation.
The Likud seems to have failed badly in its strategic goals of last decade. They failed in Lebanon, in Iran, in Iraq, in Turkey, and in Syria. Now for a reason I can not fathom the Likud is doing everything possibke to provoke a big war.
doubling down on failure seems to be Likuds current objective
The drone was Iranian. It was against 12 Iranian targets the IAF struck.
“Russias concern relates primarily to the major Israeli offensive conducted Saturday against 12 targets, which also targeted two Iranian, Syrian and Hizballah concentrations one outside Quneitra opposite Israels Golan border with Syria, and the other in the Daraa de-escalation zone in the south.”

“Iran had recently armed its military units in Syria and its Hizballah proxy with a supply of its newest drone, Mohajer 6 (Migrant) which carries smart precision bombs.”

These are the drones that Iran is mass producing.
Some are suggesting that Israel push their F-35s up to the front. Should they lose an F-35, and it goes down inside Syria, Lockmart will have nightmare for years.
“The Syrian anti-air missiles which hit an Israeli F-16 early Saturday, Feb. 10, are part of a system operated with and commanded by the Russians from their Kheimim air base. The F-16 was shot down during an Israeli air strike against the Iranian facility at the T-4 air base near Palmyra, which launched a UAV into Israeli airspace that morning.”
“... another wave of Israeli air strikes was then launched against a broad range of Iranian and Syrian targets.”

Was likely an SA-5 (S-200 system) that hit the plane - the missile’s range extends into northern Israel.
Seems like there were two waves not just the one with the loss of the F-16 - the first loss since the ‘67 war.
Iran is now threatening to attack all US bases. - Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami (aka The Big Salami).

One of the pilots is in serious condition.Iran sees Israel as now too tied to its budding improved relationships with Saudi Arabia and Egypt to strike. As Machiavelli wrote (I'm paraphrasing), don't let a problem simmer -- act immediately and decisively, in this example, NUKE IRAN. Or maybe something a little less hotheaded, such as killing the ruling oligarchy in Iran.
Seems like there were two waves not just the one with the loss of the F-16 - the first loss since the 67 war.Although Israel was an early customer, the F-16 wasn't available to anyone prior to about 1978. In the 1973 war, the IAF lost planes to the SAM umbrellas of Syria and Egypt, so they adapted tactics to strike the SAMs if possible, while flying under radar to provide close air support against the Syrian tank attack (almost 1400 tanks; Syria lost roughly 1000 in the 1973 war).
Sorry you misconstrued what I said - was not saying Israel lost F-16s in the ‘67 war. Just this was the first IAF plane shot down since then.
Silly Joooos, fighting back. Did you not read the article?
