President Trump is declining to read his daily brief and is instead having officials orally brief him on certain issues, The Washington Post reported Friday.
Trump is breaking with precedent set by seven past presidents in choosing to rarely read the daily briefing, which includes what officials have deemed to be the most important U.S. intelligence from hot spots around the globe.
Reading the report is not Trump's chosen "style of learning," one source told The Post.

Sounds like this is what he’s used to in terms of staff reporting in his business. You can’t ask for immediate clarifications and additional details, or personal opinion(s) based on the staff person’s experience, from a document. So yes, in a positive sense it matters a lot. As does the fact that, unlike His Shiftlessness, Trump is actually receiving daily and paying attention to the reports.
You’re paying for it every time you use Amazon
It absolutely matters... you cannot cross examine a paper report. Trump is on the job asking tough questions - it's his style. Always has been.
The spin is that he's too dumb to read the reports. Just spin.
Obama only missed more than half of them.
I am a reader. I miss details when I am told things. I work for a guy who is definitely like Trump and retains better when told things. I don’t function well that way, but some do, and like Trump, he is an “ideas” guy.
Using old banking terminology, he is a “hunter” and I am a “skinner”. I am an analyst that breaks down problems, takes them apart and solves them. I handle details and minutia. Takes both kinds to make most organizations function well.
Precedent of past 7 presidents? I doubt it.
I prefer oral reports. I can tell who is trying to bullsh!t me.
It’s actually old news. I’m sure yiu remember how tge press made such a big deal out of Trump saying he didn’t need to read the daily intelligence reports every day but if it makes you feel better to blame the Post, go ahead.
Seems to me it would be advantageous to ask questions, maintain focus, and identify areas needing further research instead of reading a sterile document.
WHAT’S WRONG WITH THAT? That is EXACTLY the way proper management works. It is a poor executive that does the work of his underlings and then expects something new when briefed by his advisers. Why have advisers at all? It also DEFEATS the purpose (of good management) to DELEGATE tasks to others and expect briefings from them so that you can concentrate on your duties and responsibilities.
The story is all over. Do you prefer your head in the sand?
Please dont confuse a story being all over with importance or relevance. THAT would be ridiculous.
Didn’t Obama skip his security briefings?
Didn’t Hillary claim she received no classified emails, that she had others visit to read them to her?
Not really, but the aides in the White House say that he is having a tough time reading the 10 page Democratic response to Nunes’ report. I wonder if they put some confusing stuff in it that doesn’t make sense. Trump seems pretty smart to me so I can’t understand why reading is so difficult for him.
Circular reporting. One source reports the rest report on the report. It doesn’t make the first report true.
1. Why do you believe a The Hill article which whose source is the WaPo?
2. Even IF Trump has some stuff read to him, that is not an indication of stupidity.
The whole slant of this article (and the WaPo one, no doubt) is that POTUS Trump is stoopid.
Why even pay the slightest attention to commiepuke propaganda? Why believe any of it? That is the mystery.
Isnt the Hill conservative? As long as trump keeps getting judges confirmed, I dont care if he has problems reading.
I would make them come into my office at 0700 every morning and verbally deliver their report.
That way I could corner them with questions in the moment and discern if anyone is jerking me around.
And no junior officers either.
Head of NSC, JCS, CIA, NSA, FBI.
0700 every stinkin’ mornin’. They will leave their written report when we’re done.
Are you saying it isn’t true?
I dont have to be told you know, Im, like, a smart person, Trump told Foxs Chris Wallace at the time. I dont have to be told the same thing and the same words every single day.
