Democrats expand battleground, target 101 GOP seats
NBC news ^ | February 8, 2018

House Democrats are stepping on the gas, with plans to target over 100 Republican-held congressional districts in the November midterm elections.

At House Democrats' annual conference on Thursday, Rep. Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), is expected to tell colleagues the committee is expanding the battleground to include 101 Republicans — the largest in a decade, a Democratic source familiar with the matter told NBC News.

The seven new targets push Democrats even deeper into Republican territory in South Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas. And they include the Ohio seat held by the man charged with defending the GOP's majority, Rep. Steve Stivers, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee. (Republicans are also targeting Lujan.)

The DCCC's own polling of key districts has been more promising than national trends, showing President Donald Trump underwater not just in the 23 GOP-held districts Hillary Clinton won, but also in the more than 60 districts Trump won, and the 11 where retirements have left the seat open.

Seems like an irrational strategy given their limited resources.

Good plan.

Remember when the Hillary! campaign decided to target Arizona in the waning days of the 2016 campaign?

I think it’s misinformation in an attempt to get the GOP to blow lots of money on House races to prevent big losses in the Senate.

The Democrats are facing a bloodbath. The only thing that might help them is that GOP leadership doesn’t want to lead and probably feels more comfortable with the Communists in charge of Congress. The Democratic is *literally* on the ropes and the GOP is blowing a one in a lifetime opportunity to break that party’s back.

The party and activists that works the hardest will win. If the money buys competent “volunteers” we should be concerned.

If we don’t activate volunteers to go door to door and get their neighbors to vote the correct way, we lose.

Neither party is going to win or lose much based on national media and TV ads.

Of course, if a candidate does an Aiken-Murdoch-Walsh and commits suicide ... political suicide than that is a loser.

At $1 million per race, that’s $101 million dollars.

You have to break it down and drill down, much more than we can do here.

But, where will they pick up the 24 seats needed for a Dem majority?

Of the 60 districts won by Trump, damn near all will elect or reelect their Republican congressman.

Of the 23 districts won by Hillary, Dems may well pick up 12 to 15 there. But they won’t win them all.

Of the 11 retirements, Dems may pick off a few but most of these should go to the GOP.

Add it all up, and Dems have a narrow path to retake the House.

Have you ever heard the saying “Better to keep you mouth shut and let people think you’re a fool than to open it and remove all doubt?”

The article is about the House, not the Senate.

They can field candidates in solid Red districts or great those with GOP PVI , but no promise to fund.

The Dems will lose about 10 seats in the Senate in NOV, just because of how the races happened to line up this cycle.

The economy is humming along and continuing to improve.

Trump's SOTU speech had a SEVENTY-FIVE percent approval rating, including 43% among Dems.

There are 47 more GOPs than Dems in the House now, meaning that the Dems have to flip at least 24 seats, and not lose any of their own.

The Dems have NO new message other than the hyper-"Progressive" bilge that the electorate has been rejecting since 2010.

The Dems ONLY have the MSM smear machine, and the voters are already tired of that nonsense.

I don't see how the corrupt DNC can pull this off... but then again, I never would have imagined that the DOJ, IRS, FBI, CIA, FISA judges, and more could all be openly making political attacks against a single party in the US.

We need to work hard to Primary out all Establishment Republicans, and then beat the Dems in every General election possible. It's up to us folks. Trump has done far more than anyone could have dreamed. As of right now, it's our turn to pick up the ball and move it forward.
