The mysterious death last year of a U.S. Border Patrol agent which has turned into a political football reaching the White House did not appear to result from an attack or fight, the FBI announced Wednesday. Agent Rogelio Martinez died in November 2017 outside Van Horn, Texas, about 110 miles southeast of El Paso. According to an autopsy report from the El Paso County Office of the Medical Examiner, the cause of Martinezs death is blunt force injuries of the head, but the manner of death is still undetermined.

Geez, how long does it take for the feds to get their story straight?

Se no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil.
Se no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil.
What car accident? Do you have a link for that?
A stray meteorite?
Exactly, why should anyone believe a word the FBI says at this point. They have joined the ranks of the IRS, VA, BATF as government organizations go. If the FBI says something automatically question the truthfulness of the statement. Sadly, they lie and it would appear, a lot!
Could be, the area was steep and rocky. Unfortunately the other agent who survived has no memory of what happened.
And then Ryan’s and then Trump’s if he signs it! Let’s stay up to midnight and see what happens. Either way life goes on.
It could be, but not necessarily. If you tripped and conked your head on a rock, that would also be a “blunt force injury”.
Possibly. But the story says the other guy with him also sustained injuries and “can’t remember” what happened, i.e. suffering amnesia. Sounds like evidence of an attack.
That’s what I’m wondering. This story stinks.
The FBI is a joke at this point. Did the Texas Rangers investigate? If so, they will solve it and bring the culprit to justice.
I think we ran into a culvert, Agent Stephen Garland told a Border Patrol dispatcher the night before Martinez died. Garland was disoriented and unsure of his location but knew he and Martinez were badly hurt and needed help.
as them driving into a culvert and getting banged up - I may very well be wrong though.

I have not seen any mention of vehicle damage, or vehicle accident investigation in any of the reports. Not sure what that may refer to unless he meant they ran into the culvert on foot- but no indication why they would have been running. Agent Garland did have head injuries, and at this point has no memory of what happened so he may have been confused as to what happened to them then. The article said he was disoriented when talking to the dispatcher.
The agents were in separate vehicles so not sure a vehicle accident would explain what happened, and surely any damage to either vehicle would have been noticed in the investigation.
I was curious if you had seen mention of an accident because I hadn’t seen anything.
This whole incident seems to have far more questions than answers.
That's for darn sure
Remember both agents had head injuries, the one that died had multiple serious injuries- people at the scene said it looked like he had been beat to death. The surviving agent had serious head injury and back injuries. So a fall, even from the highway at the top of the culvert (estimated 8 feet) would not result in those kinds of injuries. Not too likely they would both trip and fall or just fall. Many of the articles only mention the agent that died but there were 2 involved.
Border Patrol from agents in the field to supervisors seem convinced they were attacked from behind by smugglers. Many BP agents have been physically attacked over the years so it is absolutely possible, to me even the most likely answer. I think politics right now has the FBI and others looking for another explanation. I could be wrong, have been wrong before.
