... Climate change isnt just about the planet. Its about justice: racial, social, socioeconomic, reproductive, and environmental. Its about immigration reform, LGBTQIA+ rights, and religious freedom. I know this interconnectedness, and fervently believed in it when I wrote my initial essay submission last year.
However, in this moment, I find myself unable to think of climate change on its own. When Trumps policy is climate destruction, it doesnt take place in silos.
If anything has changed in my mind since last year, it is that my connection to so many struggles for social justice are even more strongly at the forefront.
And yetto know that your work is inextricably linked to other fights for equality, and then to see the flood of battles headed our way: How on Earth do we keep from drowning?
We must build resilience, physical as well as social, and spiritual.
When I think about resilience, I think, as always, about the young people on the front lines of climate change. I think about my friends, my generation, those who refuse to accept the present for what it is, but see the future for what it could be. I think about the Sunrise movement, a response by young people to Trump and climate change. This group is talented, determined, and resilient, developing a new strategy to mobilize communities into political action on climate.
I would be lying if I said that I am very hopeful these days; after all, there are many reasons to choose to despair. However, when I hear about howas we young climate organizers knewyoung generations are rising up to Donald Trump, to the deafness of politicians, and to the climate crisis, I decide to be hopeful.

Say whuh????
I’m playing Liberal Buzzword Bingo with this. I’m guessing a full card inside of the first 5 paragraphs. . .
All these smart people should be buying up a crap load of salt to put on their crow when they get old and the earth is still about the same temperature as it is now.
They didn’t even notice that one of Obama’s campaign promises was to keep the sea level from rising and he was able to keep that promise. The problem has already been solved.
This is what passes as the intellect of queers, degenerates, liars, and low IQ minorities. Is there a bottom to their stupidity?
All of us need to go to this site and post our comments. I’ll be the first, if they let me.
That isn’t a nose she’s wearing, that’s a snout attached to her airway.
Not guilty, just STOOOPID!
The only solution for this imperiled waif is suicide. In her native Canada, a physician will happily and legally help her accomplish it.
Headline is very accurate. It’s really about shutting down Capitalism ASAP.
>>This is what passes as the intellect of queers, degenerates, liars, and low IQ minorities. Is there a bottom to their stupidity?<<
Well and truly said. Bottom? No, you just can’t fix stupid. It’s a bottomless pit of ignorance.
What she detailed is NOT climate change; it’s culture change.
Intersectionality is a theory which considers that the various aspects of humanity, such as class, race, sexual orientation and gender, do not exist separately from each other, but are complexly interwoven, and that their relationships are essential to an understanding of the human condition. When systems of justice or other entities attempt to look at each aspect in isolation, then misconceptions may occur and essential understandings may be lost. The theory proposes that individuals think of each element or trait of a person as inextricably linked with all of the other elements in order to fully understand one's identity.
You mean the geniuses in the socialist studies departments have finally discovered that each person is a unique INDIVIDUAL with his own set of special circumstances, needs, interests, desires, etc?
Thing is they go a lot further when they suggest that “When systems of justice or other entities attempt to look at each aspect in isolation, then misconceptions may occur and essential understandings may be lost.”
I interpret that as saying that, for example, laws should not be applied equally, that justice should not be blind. In other words a black person committing a crime should perhaps be treated more leniently than a white person committing the same crime, because, you know, slavery.
This turns on its head the very concept of equality under the law and instead takes us straight into “animal farm”, where some animals are more equal than others.
Sadly this is the crap that is being inculcated in our youngs’ heads full of mush.
‘young climate organizers’
‘interconnectedness of climate change’
Who is encouraging this nonsense? Her writing is pretty much word salad and painful to read.
‘to get young, impressionable people to blindly follow.’
90% of whom appear to be females gabbling on social media...
Disproportionate is their way of saying don't arrest more minorities than their proportion of the population. Don't put more minorities in jail than the percentage of their class in society.
In war today it is measured response, not victory.,
