President Trump told Republican lawmakers Tuesday that he would "love to see a shutdown" of the federal government if Democrats do not support his proposed changes to immigration law.
[Snip]
The White House has proposed steep cuts in legal immigration and increased border security, including a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, in exchange for continuing protections for hundreds of thousands of immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children. Democrats have balked at the proposals and forced a three-day government shutdown over the issue last month.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., told reporters that Trump's latest comment "speaks for itself."

The Bad Old Donald is going to point out how those brilliant Donks have hitched their star to a winning cause ...
Schumer has said that even if the measure passed the House, it “would be barreling head-first into a dead end” in the Senate, where it needs 60 votes.
Here that McConnell?? Nuke it, and change to 50% +1 just like it ALWAYS WAS!
Cornered like the ‘rats they are.
He left out....you pulled that cr** before...How'd that work out??
Congress will send the president a spending bill that will not include DACA or the entire amount he wants for the wall. If the President wants a shutdown then all he has to do is veto it.
José and Carlos are beggars. They beg in different areas of town.
Carlos begs for the same amount of time as José, but collects only about $8.00 or $9.00 a day.
José brings home a suitcase full of $10 dollar bills every day. He drives a Mercedes, lives in a mortgage-free house, and has a lot of money to spend.
“Hey, amigo,” Carlos says to José, “I work just as long and hard as you do... so how come you bring home a suitcase full of $10 dollar bills every day?”
José says, Look at your sign... what does it say?”
Carlos reads his sign: “I have no work, a wife and six kids to support.”
“What’s wrong with that?” Carlos asks him.
“No wonder you only get $8.00 or $9.00 a day!” says José.
Carlos says, All right, what is on your sign?”
José shows him: “Only $10 more and I will be able to return to Mexico”
Your post reminded me of something. They should pass a law that says “in future shutdowns, furloughed government employees not working, will not receive back-pay during the period of the shutdown.”
The way we have treated our vets is a travesty. Thanks, Mr. President, for pointing this out.
But by all means, let’s let in thousands of people from questionable countries, some of whom have ill intent. /s
Certainly in Canada, they get the red carpet treatment, and if they are equipped and know what they are doing, can easily head south. Maine is not that far from Quebec (a province that LOVES refugees).
Or cockroaches. LOL!
Agree with that 100%.
Soldiers will be paid, Congress will not. That’s the law regarding future furloughs that I want to see.
LOL..... Good one.
How can we expect former welfare recipients to accept No Work, No Pay, if we can't expect the same from our government employees?
Shut it down.
But first pass a bill that no one gets paid, especially senators.
In fact, senators get charged by the day out of their own pockets.
Useless trash.
Why don’t they do this? If they did, Schumer and the Dems are shut down, and we’ll finally get things done in Washington.
This makes me angry.
Of course. The military never really goes on furlough. They'll still be on watch, prepared to defend our country.
I'm tired of seeing other, non-essential government workers get to what amounts to a long weekend or an extra week of vacation, and then receive back pay for it.
outthunk by Trump
Does Mitch have the stones and wisdom to go down in history as the senate leader that saved the Republic by 1) returning to the Mr Smith filibuster rules (applauded and understood by all Americans) or
2) Doing away with the filibuster in total ( Going Nuclear )
Well, Mr Leader of the Senate, Are You ready to do your duty and Lead?
