“Canada’s main public affairs magazine Maclean’s has featured an article (Nov. 17, 2017) titled “Is Jordan Peterson the stupid man’s smart person?” — shades of Hillary’s deplorables — written by a certain Tabatha Southey. It is a sophomoric rant dripping with smug disingenuousness and fey pro-Marxist rhetoric, accusing Peterson of monetizing his unease and of being a belle of the alt-right. She refers to Peterson as, variously, Jordan Pea-Headerson, Jordan Eggman, Dr. Pettyson, J-man and J. Pete the Beet, of whom “most of what he says is, after fifteen seconds’ consideration, completely inane.””

This Tabatha Southey is a real piece of work. She’s the ex-wife of comedic actor Dave Foley. This tweet shows her contempt for Jordan Peterson: https://twitter.com/tabathasouthey/status/931558104210194432?lang=en

I’m attracted to the argument that ever more divisive interjectional identity subdivision leads to the case for Personal Liberty.

Just say no to the collective as the eventual totalitarian control.

“(Note: Peterson was willing to address individuals by their chosen pronouns, but was not willing to be forced to do so by law.)”

Why should I “note” that? What difference does that make to the stance that he’s taking against compelled PC speech? I don’t really like the implication of that line ... that folks should be more supportive of him because absent these rules he’d voluntarally go along with using those pronouns, and by extension, one who is not inclined to support these pronouns is less deserving of being supported for taking a stand against their compelled usage.

Peterson is, above all, logical. In any argument he makes - he demonstrates the logic and causality.

He then demonstrates the illogic, contradictions (and usually the utter stupidity) of the ideas he is attacking.

Its how every talk he gives proceeds.

Post-modern emotionalism and nihilism always get exposed badly, and the left doesn’t like it, so they are trying to shut him up

My girl friend is a big fan. I bought her Peterson’s new book as reading material for her visit to her family in the Philippines.

I’m attracted to the argument that ever more divisive intersectional identity subdivision leads to the case for Personal Liberty.

Just say no to the collective as the eventual totalitarian control.

"The article is a veritable trove of gross incivilities, lies, misrepresentations, slanders, and contradictions, coated in a thick mantle of sanctimoniousness — the hallmark of the neo-Marxist brand of intellectual misbehavior."

Just like Trump's critics: in all the things they criticize him for, they surpass him, even run laps around him.

It has nothing to do with who is more or less deserving of support. That is an inference you are drawing on your own, not one that his fairly implied by the article.

It has to do with providing clarity as to what his position actually is. He is not against the use of those pronouns, but rather against government compulsion to do so. Whether a particular reader believes one or the other is the stance more worthy of defense really doesn't enter into it. They just don't want to misrepresent his position, so they add the "note". Else, someone is going to refer to him misleadingly as the guy who refuses to use those pronouns.

If SNL hadn’t fallen to leftist orthodoxy, they could do a parody - along the lines of the old “It’s Pat” skits in which Kevin Neelan struggles to identify the gender of “Pat” through carefully phrased questions, but is always foiled. The new skit would feature a tran-so-and-so trying to lure someone into using their preferred pronoun, but the other person always manages to craft a response which does not require a pronoun.

"Southey and Wells are exemplary types, paid dissemblers representing the two poles of Peterson haters, the literary urchin who thinks she is funny and the Herr Professor who thinks he is clever.

Lot of that going around these days. You've got Colbert and Kimmel et al, and then all the leftist profs that appear on shows like "Tucker Carlson."

There is a vast gulf between being forced by the state to do a thing and in being kind and respectful to an individual by using their preferred pronoun even if you disagree with them.
