From what little I can glean, this motorcycle tour group is out of Los Angeles. The cop you mention got sent to prison. Glad to hear it.
That would be epic.

It’s funny how there’s a sort of invisible line you cross, that tells you that your’e officially out of exurbia and into the sticks and it pertains to turn signals. They don’t use them and don’t trust them. If you see one on, it’s an elderly driver who doesn’t know it. They’ll sit and stare at you like a deer in headlights with your signal on as you turn in and will absolutely not pull out, waiting far longer than they’d have to wait. Rolling stops are the norm as you note, and using the horn for anything other than tooting “hey” to your neighbor is rude to the point of confrontation the next time you stop.
In my car, sometimes I’ll be in a left turn lane behind someone else waiting for oncoming traffic. Yet the traffic is so far away I figure we could easily both go. So, while they sit there, I go ahead and turn. I’ve learned to stop far enough behind them so I can do this. Sometimes it really ticks them off and they honk at me, but usually there is STILL plenty of time for them to turn.
This actually happens quite a bit here in KY.
