No, he should not fire him. I think President Trump is going to be vindicated because of what is coming out now, what will come out from the IG investigation, and there is no way in h3ll Meuller will try for a process crime against POTUS. He will never willingly destroy his reputation like that.
He drug his feet for months after knowing there is no there...there. The most he will be able to do is grab the scalp of some high flying dem.
“...He will never willingly destroy his reputation like that...”
He’s a dem apparatchik. He needs to be destroyed as an example to others who misuse the public trust and their office of authority.
“...The most he will be able to do is grab the scalp of some high flying dem....”
You are probably correct.
It may well turn out that Mueller has been working with Trump to first, provide a platform by which to expose the corrupt FBI and DOJ staff (all of which has now been noted by the OIG) and to slow-walk the release of material to create a growing awareness and acceptance of the level of corruption and criminal activity within the federal goverment. Why? In order to minimize disruption of the economy and financial pain to millions of Americans which would occur if a sudden lack of confidence were to truly crash the markets and worse.
Trust me, the people running things in the Trump adminstration know what they’re doing. Those who don’t agree with that premise would probably be more at home on the DUmp.
I think you are correct. Mueller started a probe for collusion and given the rampant leaks - it is simply not there. On top of that, there is mounting evidence that much of the “probable cause” for the collision investigation was based on a crumbly and partisan investigation into an inconsequential figure - Carter Page. Mueller understands how badly that weakens any criminal case because the rules of discovery dictate the defendant has access to it all and there would be tens of thousands of competent attorneys who would love a shot at the underpinnings of the intelligence investigation. This would be a big mess for everyone - especially the intelligence agencies, FBI, and the previous administration. They would have to produce every single email, text message, and produce every subpoena’d witness. Those are the rules and that is why this will never happen. Beyond unrelated charges of lying about the flawed investigation (those are suspect too and because of the same crap foundation) there will not be charges of substance for the very reason I just stated. The “deep state” knows this - yet few seem to realize it.
So now the investigation has transitioned to “obstruction” and Mueller is in a pickle here as well. First - he is hopelessly conflicted due to his relationship with Comey before he started and Comey’s stated desire that Mueller be appointed. Having followed this thing..... who is the best witness for obstruction (i.e. - who came out and said the President committed obstruction?) - Comey.
Let’s take a good look at Comey -
He leaked classified information produced on a government laptop - admittedly to get a special counsel appointed (his mentor - Mueller). A felony and strike 1.
He apparently - based on the newly released text messages - was less than candid in his prior testimony before congress regarding the Clinton email investigation and his description of the investigation and decision making process. On top of that, do you think he told his boss (the President) that they used this craptastic dossier as the basis for wiretapping (that he denied publicly and before congress by the way)? Strike 2.
On top of this - let’s compare the obstruction that took place in that investigation (allowed by Comey) to what he alleges the President said (he is not really a credible witness anymore is he?) that constitutes obstruction according to CNN.
He says the President interfered and pressured him in an ongoing investigation. As Allen Dershowitz says - so what? Even assuming he did and that is doubtful - that is within the powers granted the President over an executive agency so there is not even a crime here. Strike 3
On the other hand.... the FBI under his leadership and absent apparent permission from DOJ as required by law - granted immunity to involved parties in a national security investigation, allowed them to repeatedly destroy evidence of the crime after they were told to preserve it, and he outlined the elements of a crime before saying “no reasonable prosecutor would pursue such a case!” He does not have the legal authority to do this! Stunning arrogance. In fact, the investigation should be reopened because it now appears some of the investigators making these decisions and granting immunity did not only NOT HAVE the statutory authority to grant immunity, they themselves were partisan actors involved in.... *gasp* obstruction of justice!
Mueller - already conflicted if he used Comey as the basis of any obstruction charge is smart enough to know and understand what I wrote above. Unless there is something completely shocking that we are all unaware of (hard to believe with the pattern of leaks) this thing will die of its own volition because Mueller understands what I wrote is true.
If Mueller charged obstruction the ENTIRE conspiracy unravels on their end. The defendant would have open access to all of it - immediately. I don’t want to suffer another year of angst in the media where they have lost their collective minds, but another part of me wishes they would charge someone with obstruction. I think Cobb, Sekulow, and company would leave a pile of smoldering ash and ruins behind them and it would not be on the lawn of the White House. Just my .02
