A former Dallas accountant condemned for fatally shooting his two young daughters while their mother listened helplessly on the phone was put to death Thursday night in Texas. John David Battaglia was executed for the May 2001 killings of his 9-year-old daughter, Faith, and her 6-year-old sister, Liberty. Battaglia and his wife had separated, and he shot the girls at his Dallas apartment during a scheduled visit... Asked by the warden if he had a final statement, the inmate replied: "No," then changed his mind. "Well, hi, Mary Jean," he said, looking and smiling at his ex-wife. "I'll see y'all later. Bye."

Act of contrition
That's not what the Bible teaches.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (John 5:24)
He that is trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross will be saved. But the unbelieving have a different fate...
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:13-15)
Eternal torment in the lake of fire awaits the unbelieving who want to be judged based on their own works.

So many forget that to make peace with God is by invitation only. Repentance being a key part of that, something this evil twit displayed none of.
Pretty safe to guess the lake of fire is his destination.
He was a very evil man.
But he got his revenge. He went to hell knowing he hurt his wife way more than she could ever hurt him.

I take a Jeffersonian outlook
Just being remorseful is insufficient for salvation. You have to be born again.
That’s your branch of Christianity’s belief. Roman Catholicism says if you make a good (you must really believe what your saying) act of contrition you may get purgatory but you save yourself from the fires of hell.
And I’m not say one or the other is correct. Just that there are different takes on it.
