Leaks, feasts and sex parties: How ‘Fat Leonard’ infiltrated the Navy’s floating headquarters
Washington Post ^ | 1/31/2018 | Craig Whitlock

Posted on 02/02/2018 7:47:06 AM PST by AndyJackson

... Francis [Fat Leonard] systematically infiltrated the Blue Ridge ...Francis doled out illicit gifts, hosted epicurean feasts and sponsored sex parties for Blue Ridge personnel...Officers from the Blue Ridge consumed or pocketed about $1 million in gourmet meals, liquor, cash, vacations, airline tickets, tailored suits, Cuban cigars, luxury watches, cases of beef, designer handbags, antique furniture and concert tickets — and reveled in the attention of an armada of prostitutes

...

he then prodded his moles on the Blue Ridge to reroute aircraft carriers and other vessels to ports controlled by his firm so he could more easily overcharge the Navy for fuel, other supplies and services.

This is the Navy that can't steer straight.

Watches and designer handbags? I presume Fat Leonard gave these cucks cheap knock-offs.

Systemic corruption

*****

More than 60 admirals have come under investigation by the Justice Department and the Navy for their interactions with Francis and his company. Two admirals have been charged in federal court and six others have been censured or disciplined by the Navy. Authorities have publicly identified only a handful of the others so far.

This list of navy personnel involved in this scandal is almost unbelievable. I could believe that a couple of ensigns might go astray. But dozens of admirals, captains, and commanders were involved.

it boggles the mind. Perhaps we should just go back to licensing privateers. At least with a privateer you know what you’re getting upfront.

It is hard to imagine that anyone operating in Pacflt did not know this was going on. I mean, you cannot stop sailors bragging about the good time had on port visits and comparing notes on the quality of the talent offered.

The corruption includes a lot of folks looking the other way and a lot of accountants never questioning whether fair prices were being offered, or questioning whether competitive bids were sought for services. This isn't just corruption of individuals. It is corruption of the whole system, demonstrating utter top to bottom incompetence.

After Mike Boorda was assassinated, things changed in the Navy. Downhill rapidly.

Adm. Boorda committed suicide.

And it all occurred under Obola’s unadmirable admirals. But it was also started under Bush-Clinton - Because that is when Obola-Cltin-Kerry’s admirals were selected and started up the ranks.

Why do we need 60 Admirals? We don’t even have 500 ships.

I guess it could be worse. According to this 2013 article, the British navy has 40 admirals and 260 captains, but only 19 active warships.

I know several of the people involved. I knew Leonard and others while being in Singapore. There are way more guys in the federal pipeline.

The 'worst' thing about this is that Leonard was really good at protecting our ships while in ports. They had a state of the art 'mother ship' and the support they provided was top of the line. All the other suck coming out of Australia compared. He knew all the locals and his security was the best around.

Not that I am aware of. In the news, it was reported that he died from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Parkinson’s great and hilarious book, Parkinson’s Law explains the growth of the British Admiralty in fine detail. We are behind in Admirals/capital ship only because we have not been around for as much time.

Several Naval Officers including at least 1 rear Admiral I have known over the years, believed that he committed suicide.

That’s interesting. I notice a difference of belief between the officers and enlisted in that case. The officers I know where this topic was discussed didn’t believe it was suicide, but not all were surveyed. No one believed he killed himself over his ribbon rack, it’s a ridiculous reason.
