Both the New York Times and the Washington Post yesterday ran editorials calling for prior restraint on a memo written by the duly elected chairman of the House Intelligence Committee after he and his staff reviewed classified documents related to the so-called Russia investigation. These editorials are a stain on American journalism ...
I believe in the First Amendment, and I thought that mainstream media did too. I did not see it as a doctrine of convenience that applied only to documents that buttress one side but then not applied if it might conceivably help the other side. ...
the news pages need to stop covering a story that has brought down six senior officials as just partisan sniping and recognize that the actions of the FBI and the Justice Department in relation to both these investigations need to come out of the darkness and be fully revealed to the American public.

Mark Penn served as pollster and adviser to Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, including during President Clinton's impeachment, and today is chairman of the Harris Poll.
The OpEd is damning of the press, as suggested by the excerpt, but also brings out underlying facts about the conduct of the FBI, inferences taken from the dossier, and more. Well done piece.
But now it's THEIR ox being gored.

NYT/WAPO op-ed translation:
“You Trump supporters stand back and shut-up while we,
the Democrats, and a sham investigative crew run him
out of town on a rail.”
There will be a day of reckoning for rabid Dem partisans and the DBM. The more sane among them will be dragged kicking and screaming to the truth, but the most rabid will claim it’s a VRWC pack of lies.
If Obama is implicated, watch all hell break loose.
Penn is a noted dem, and one of the few who seem to care about integrity of elected officials and government on their side.
Bama will walk on this.
No kidding!
The liberal Hollywood elite has been separating their shoulders patting themselves on the back for The Post, a film that glorifies the public printing of military secrets.
More evidence that the Progressive media is all for Freedom of Speech for them... and not for anyone else.
It is pretty funny “The Post” has come out during this time period. Liberals praise it but are trying to cover up for Dems at the same time. God has great timing.
“Don’t run over us with that bulldozer...”
I found this paragraph shockingly indicative of the extreme echo chamber in which the left has sequestered themselves:
“In the last Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, we read people a list of recent facts that have come out and almost all of them were unknown to the public, even when prompted. A majority did know that Comey had drafted the memo on the Clinton investigation long before the investigation was over. But most people did not know who paid for the dossier, and most had not heard about the text messages and their reference to an insurance policy in case Trump was elected. After hearing this information, 75 percent said it was significant and 63 percent said the FBI needs to be investigated.”
Sequester themselves?! Hell no! They are engaged in the business of sequestering relevant information from the public.
“I believe in the First Amendment, and I thought that mainstream media did too.”
Really? Who are you, Forrest Gump’s stupider brother?
Republicans constantly go on the television shows of these leftist traitors. They should go on, but when asked questions their only response should be a counter-question that asks “Why is it OK for you, the so-called independent media, to constantly cover-up for the Democrats on everything they do? And constantly attack Republicans for everything they do?”
Demand answers from these pukes at every opportunity.
Donald Trump and Sarah are the only people **ever** to have the courage to take the evilstream misleadia to task.
Our political class, to a man and (alleged) woman, is irredeemably corrupt and depraved.
That’s what they think they’re doing but most people get their information from outside that bubble so they’re really just denying themselves.
