Now, either side could have said condescendingly (as you did), “Nonsense. There is one America and it supports the sovereignty of states’ rights” or “Nonsense. There is one America and it supports federal authority over states’ rights.” It would have been foolish for either side to take such a position.
By pretending there is not a massive divide is delusional.

Such reasoning improperly and unwisely elevates the status of an invasive agent. Such certainly applies where the agent is a philosophy that would remake the host.
Perhaps more simply stated: One cannot be an American and at the same time also be an anti-American.

Why did the Middle English speaking Founders place Naturalization in the Constitution. The 1790 & 1795 Naturalization Acts tells us...
They wanted immigrants and citizens their natural kind.
Congress only citizenship and immigration power is Naturalization not UnNaturalization.
