The House Intelligence Committee has released a 51-page, unclassified transcript of the Monday night meeting that led to the vote to release the controversial, classified memo created by GOP staffers, alleging surveillance abuses by the Justice Department and the FBI.
The memo itself has not yet been released.
The release of the memo is opposed by the FBI. Earlier Wednesday, the FBI issued a rare statement warning against the memo's release, saying incompletely information in the memo raised "grave concerns." FBI Director Christopher Wray also objected to the memo's release, and, along with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, asked White House chief of staff John Kelly not to allow its release. The memo details allegations that the DOJ and FBI abused authorities under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) around the time of the 2016 presidential campaign.
The House Intelligence Committee voted along party lines Monday night to release it, allowing the White House five days to object to its release. But Kelly had indicated Wednesday morning in an interview with Fox News Radio that the memo would be released, and President Trump, after his first State of the Union address Tuesday night, said he agreed "100 percent" that the memo should be released. According to the transcript, committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, R-California, said the full House would vote to release the memo if for some reason the president declined.

That's the greatest possible endorsement right there.
If there is incomplete information in the memo the FBI is free to provide additional information to make certain it is complete.
Information to cover up misdeeds, bad conduct and criminal activity on the part of government employees should not be classified or hidden from the public to begin with.
Why is Jeff Sessions putting up with this sort of conduct by FBI Director Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein?
They should be working to root out corruption in the FBI and DOJ, not fighting to cover it up.
That's all well and good, but what I REALLY want to see and read is the unclassified transcript of the meeting to discuss whether to release the unclassified transcript of the Monday night meeting.
Are the Dems trying to release their own ‘memo’ because they believe they need to explain and run cover for what the other one says? This transcript is pure theater. Obviously they weren’t sure they’d be given the chance to lie & obfuscate.
Interestingly, even they acknowledge “someone” will be taking the fall for whatever is contained in the memo.
Then Schiff comes out and says the committee is blocking release of his memo.
They did this because of they lying media reports about the meeting.
Kelly has already said it will be released. RR can pound sand
I wish they would get it out before a ‘Judicial Dictator’ rules against it.
No one has standing to sue. It is in POTUS hands now. Kelly has said it will be released. Trump has said it will be released.
Wait for Thursday
Standard approach when dealing with an obstreperous witness or adverse party, as here:
You are represented, right?
You understand that you will have an opportunity to discuss this matter with your attorney, then respond and explain any confusion that may result from your testimony?
OK.
Please answer the question.
or
Judge, would you instruct the witness to answer?
Of course they have gotten away with contempt and perjury for many years, so ...
The FBI opposes the release of a memo that shows criminal behavior at the FBI
So - provide the "missing" information and explain why Rostensein's word has any value when it comes to getting the truth out there...
Reading the transcript from the Intel Committee - they begin by talking about how this is being recorded and the transcript will be a public document. Later in the meeting, Schiff starts demanding to know when this transcript will be released!! as if it isn’t going to be. He wants it released Tuesday Jan 30!
The Dems really do talk down and play to the lowest common denominator of their constituents, trying to lead them along by the noses.
Who is pushing Schiff to the point he’s literally outright lying & in clear panic mode?
He's always like that. Hyper-partisan, irrational. It sells in his district. He'd be insisting on full release of all the classified material if a GOP-biased FBI stood accused of surveilling and framing Hillary. He has no stable principle beyond power and political outcome.
the meeting minutes release is to let us know if schiff was truthful in his report.
I don’t have the energy to sort it all out but suspect the man lied about what transpired and the release of the minutes shook him to the core.
He really comes across like a true weirdo. I bet he has a lot of stuff in his closet. (and I don’t mean gay)
