The Justice Departments inspector general has been focused for months on why Andrew McCabe, as the No. 2 official at the FBI, appeared not to act for about three weeks on a request to examine a batch of Hillary Clinton-related emails found in the latter stages of the 2016 election campaign, according to people familiar with the matter.
The inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz, has been asking witnesses why FBI leadership seemed unwilling to move forward on the examination of emails found on the laptop of former congressman Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) until late October about three weeks after first being alerted to the issue, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive matter.
A key question of the internal investigation is whether McCabe or anyone else at the FBI wanted to avoid taking action on the laptop findings until after the Nov. 8 election, these people said. It is unclear whether the inspector general has reached any conclusions on that point.
A major line of inquiry for the inspector general has been trying to determine who at the FBI and the Justice Department knew about the Clinton emails on the Weiner laptop, and when they learned about them. McCabe is a central figure in those inquiries, these people said.
The FBI declined to comment, as did a spokesman for the inspector general. An attorney for McCabe did not respond to a request for comment.

In the Washington Post..maybe they have to start covering the “news”
Maybe they know how bad it is..
easy to figure out why. Hillary was going to win so why bother? Then reality paid him a visit.
Are the love birds still feeding Devlin his leads?
WOW and this is coming from the Compost LOL McCabe must be in deep doo doo if the Compost is reporting this
WaPo?
They woke?................................
His wife took 700K from the DNC and he didn’t recuse himself. GUILTY.
In the Washington Post..maybe they have to start covering the news
Maybe they know how bad it is..
Tip of the ice berg...
McCabe should not be allowed to resign and collect pension - he should be fired, indicted, prosecuted, and sent to prison, along with a horde of other libtards, such as Comey, Lynch, Powers, Hitlary Clinton, etc., etc., etc.!
There are 5,000 McCabes in Washington D.C. 4,999 to go.
In the Washington Post..maybe they have to start covering the news. Maybe they know how bad it is..
*************
More likely they are going to throw McCabe under the bus in hopes of limiting the fallout of this growing scandal to him. Try to focus on his obvious problems while ignoring other more significant players like Comey, Rosenstein, Lynch, Hillary, Obama and others.
Its just the WP’s lame attemtp at damage control.
They are trying to ‘get in front’ of the story.
They know their own readers are clueless, so this makes them look like they have a ‘scoop’..................
Is this why Huma and Weiner are back together again? So they can’t be forced to testify against each other?
Hillary & company constantly complain about Comey making the announcement such a short time before the election...when it was Andrew McCabe's fault it was not done weeks earlier.
Right, this way they can say they covered it.
Some scuttlebutt that as he was being shown the door McCabe threatened to “burn down” the FBI if he didn’t get his pension.
I say we test that theory.
Strategic leaking to the Post.
When the Washington Post starts covering this, it is most obvious that the bad guys aka Clintons, FBI etc are going down.
McCabe is a wimp and a bully. When he gets arrested, he’ll squeal like a pig and sing like a canary to avoid jail time.
Yes !
Initially, i think they were goig to try to put the entire blame of anything bad on Strzok and Page. The only two "bad apples".
But, the undeniable circle of blame is now being extended to McCabe.
I predict the next batch of stories comes out it will be how Comey was "kept in the dark" by McCAbe about the Weiner emails.
