Ha, I have 10 acres in Okeechobee, and will be moving down there in about 3 years.
Can’t wait. Sick of shoveling snow, slipping on ice, and spending 30 minutes chiseling out my windshield before going to work.
It is terrible here - everything molds, mildews, rots or rusts, the cockroaches can fly (palmetto bugs) and the wood spiders - they’re so big you can hear them run across the wall and they’re really fast.
If you see one dragging an egg sack you’ll want to get your shotgun while someone tracks their progress. Don’t know why but they like to nest under the pillow on your bed.
Alligators in your garage, pool, under the bed, the list goes on and on. For your family’s sake stay away.
10 acres in Okeechobee? There you’ve got pythons, alligators, crocodiles, water moccasins and rattlesnakes but I could maybe give you a grand or two if its above water for a python bounty hunt base camp and inland enough so the place isn’t taken out by a hurricane every 3 or 4 years ... then there’s the tornadoes ... no cellars for shelter cause you hit water at 2 or 3 feet ...
Just trying to help. If you do come down you’ll want to learn to identify fire ant mounds - you don’t want to stand around near one much less try changing your oil in the driveway.
Concealed carry no problem and you don’t need a permit for a machete - handy for hacking your way through the vines to get to your lawn mower. Lots more tips for you - just ask!
;-)
Actually you’ll do fine down here - just keep your tools oiled, your house with A/C hermetically sealed from the bugs and skeeters but please delete this sentence for any lib friends thinking about coming down and pass it along - we need all the conservatives we can get and far fewer libs than we have!
