A school board in Wisconsin has agreed to pay $800,000 to settle a lawsuit in the case of a transgender former student born female who was initially denied the request to use boys' bathrooms. The Kenosha Unified School Board voted 5-2 Tuesday night in favor of the $800,000 settlement, Kenosha News reported. Lawyers said that $650,000 of that sum would go toward attorney's fees.
The student, Ash Whitaker, a biological female who identifies as a male, claimed the school had carried out discriminatory practices in requiring that students use the bathrooms of the gender they were born with.
Whitaker, who graduated Tremper High School in June 2017, also claimed that school staff would monitor trips to the bathroom. The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had ruled in May to uphold U.S. District Court Judge Pamela Pepper's injunction allowing Whitaker to use male-only restrooms despite the school's directives.
The settlement also allows Whitaker to use male bathrooms when returning to the school as an alumni.
"I am deeply relieved that this long, traumatic part of my life is finally over and I can focus on my future and simply being a college student," Whitaker, who is now attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, said in response to the settlement decision...
In another settlement last August, a charter school in Minnesota agreed to pay $120,000, as well as to institute a gender-neutral school uniform policy and train its staff in transgender student sensitivities, after a civil lawsuit from the parents of a transgender student claimed the school did not do enough to protect their child from experiencing bullying and harassment.
And that is why I wish Trump would stop worrying about budgets and infrastructure and other things and just worry about judges judges judges. Get the Senate to confirm at least 1 judge a day or he won’t sign anything at all. Senate needs to get serious about judges NOW. Sure they did ok last year, but this year not a judge has been confirmed. They are worrying about things that don’t matter like DACA....who gives a care. Judges affect our lives a million times more then some DACA kid. Do something in 5 years after all the judges are appointed.
Indeed, but you are seen as the problem by "progressive" proxy servants of the devil.
I pray that this particular insane hold-over from the Obama reign disappears soon. As an example of the periodic insanities that sometimes afflict society, this transgender fad is particularly egregious
This is no periodic insanity fad, but along with the victim-entitlement psychology, it is a most fundamental aspect of the demonic alt-society with perversions of what God ordained.
The TAXPAYERS are on the hook for this. What an outrage!
Aye caramba!
Likely the school board did not even contest it, and the lawyers are surprised they agreed to this outrageous demand, but as said, WI has lots of liberals eager to make reparations for generations of morally correct, but now politically incorrect judgments.
That presumes there is anything close to that many conservative judges.
It still means other people will pay.
Mental disease is now a paying proession.
And that explains the whole deal. It’s just another trough to feed at. I’m sure the local taxpayers are happy to fork over the dough.
Women think they have every right to go into any man-only space because they are women.
Now the tranny women think they have every right to go into any man-only space because they believe they are a man.
‘Rat enhanced support of the Non-Working Class.
To be honest I don’t know what it would be like to genuinely feel you are the wrong gender. It would be awful. On the other hand it seems as if this has become the cool thing to do and an attention grabber supreme. All of a sudden every third person is a “different” gender??!!
On a personal note......when I was 10 a friend’s father took me upstairs & showed me his genitals and told me I could touch them. I was invited to a BBQ they were having, so the house was filled with people & no one noticed when I left.....our house was 2 houses down. It was traumatic back then......no residual problems as I grew up. BUT, the last thing I would want to see was a boy’s penis in the lockeroom or bathroom. From talking to other women I don’t think my situation was extremely rare.
I remember a time when people were brought up to not indispose others and kept private details private. Now we live in a world where some people feel entitled to everything no matter how it affects anyone else. And the judges enable them. A circle j*rk all the way around.
Behind almost every evil decree from the bench sits a female so-called judge.
Did required transgender training last week, this is what I got out of it...............WE ARE FORCED thru gov laws and law suits TO ACCEPT ANOTHER PERSONS MENTAL ILLNESS AS FACT!
“HI MY NAME IS TAMMY BUT TOMORROW DEPENDING ON HOW I FEEL I MIGHT BE JOHN”
There is no such thing as “biological male/female”. It’s male/female. There is no “identifies as...” crap.
I think the parents in this case are the force behind the girl’s rejection of her sex and the lawsuit.
If you have a hose, you stand to piddle, and you use the room for standing piddlers. If you have no hose, you sit to piddle, and you use the room for sitting piddlers. Eh? simple, eh?
It’s a Post Modern world now.
Gosh, when the teacher union comes wandering by looking for another raise, hopefully the school board notes that the funds for that were spent on transgender student awareness and ‘correcting past mistakes.’ Perhaps the union will happily take that to the bank; though I suspect they’ll instead demand more money none the less.
Looks like a woman with short hair.
What used to be common sense is increasingly uncommon as regards morals.
The latter is to be expected, as is that the tax payer should bear the burden.
