Oh, Now Shutdown Chuck Is Following Pelosi In Trashing Workers' Bonuses
Townhall.com ^ | January 27, 2018 | Matt Vespa

Well, when you’re backed into a corner, there really is nowhere to go. That’s where the Democrats are on this tax bill. Even after they shut down the government over illegal aliens, companies continued to signal their intention to dole out bonuses to their workers. In all, over 250 companies have given out bonuses to over three million workers. Bonuses have ranged from $1,000 to $3,000 depending on the company. The tax plan has become more popular as well. So, what do Democrats do now? Well, just marginalize $1,000+ bonuses as “crumbs.”

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has done it, with Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) adding that a $1,000 bonus won’t go that far. Yeah, remember when Democrats were appalled that the payroll tax cuts wouldn’t be extended in 2011, which would have added an additional $40 to workers' paychecks? This is quite the 180-degree turn. And now shutdown Chuck is getting on the “crumbs” bandwagon (via Free Beacon):

Yeah, remember when Democrats were appalled that the payroll tax cuts wouldn’t be extended in 2011, which would have added an additional $40 to workers' paychecks? This is quite the 180-degree turn. And now shutdown Chuck is getting on the “crumbs” bandwagon (via Schumer Echos Pelosi's Rhetoric: Bonuses, Raises from Tax Overhaul Are 'Crumbs'

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) on Thursday called the bonuses and wage increases that companies have given workers due to the Republican tax reform law "crumbs," echoing the rhetoric of his counterpart in the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.).

Schumer said on the Senate floor that Americans will be outraged when they learn big businesses are enriching themselves under the new tax overhaul while workers are effectively getting no benefits.

"When the American people learn that some of them are not getting anything, some of them are getting raises, and the rest are getting crumbs, and big corporations and wealthy individuals are getting nice, fat pieces of pie, they're going to be outraged," Schumer said. "They are already."

Yeah, when working and middle class families get extra money in their paychecks, they couldn’t care less about what the wealthy are doing. In their world, they’re seeing a benefit. Democrats are trying to ingrain envy into the national consciousness. It’s never really worked. In a nation that values opportunity and hard work, the wealthy are an inspiration.

That’s why, as George Will noted, we don’t have a truly successful socialist and redistributionist party in America. At least not the prominent leftist parties that are prominent throughout Europe, though that could be changing with how far to the left Democrats have moved in recent years. This is becoming a stale narrative and talking points as well. Moreover, it patently false; three million workers is a lot, folks.  Democrats won’t be able to spin this if companies keep rewarding workers with bonuses due to the Trump’s tax bill. Then, Democrats will have to explain why they voted against the middle class, the American worker, and economic growth. Have fun with that.

So my company issued its first tax cut payroll today, and it's been hilarious around here.— Federalist Musket (@Patriot_Musket) January 26, 2018

At first people were calling us here in the IT department in hushed voices.

"Um, did payroll have a glitch or something? Did you, uh, you know, uh get more money than usual?"— Federalist Musket (@Patriot_Musket) January 26, 2018

No, it's not a glitch. You got your tax cut today.

".......I got a tax cut?"

YES! You and everyone else got the tax cut that was passed in December. Congratulations!— Federalist Musket (@Patriot_Musket) January 26, 2018

It's taking a bit for the news to get around and sink in. As people are finding out, they are openly talking about how much more they got this week. And now they're also talking about how well their 401ks are doing.— Federalist Musket (@Patriot_Musket) January 26, 2018

I am genuinely happy for them.— Federalist Musket (@Patriot_Musket) January 26, 2018

I love Democrats being against more take-home pay for average folks.

Its not a position that polls well.

Everytime they keep shooting themslves in the foot. Love it!

They like higher taxes so they should run on advocating a tax increase.

Worked wonders for a fellow named Walter Mondale.

Trumps tax plan is proving to be an unqualified success......over 250 US companies have given out bonuses to over three million American workers......ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. So, spoilsport Democrats marginalize $1,000+ bonuses, calling them “crumbs.”

The families with extra cash to spend on eating out, BBQ steak dinners, trips, new furniture, etc, arent gonna buy the disgruntled Dems baloney.

Consumer spending fuels ecomomic growth.

Democrats are boxed in between a rock and a hard place.

Don’t feel too sorry for them.

If Democrats were offering the same tax cuts and Republicans were bashing it the Dems would say “see this proves that Republicans are the party of the rich they think 1,000 in your pocket are small potatoes, they are SO out of touch” well lookie here, the Dem party is the party of the Rich..I know I would LOVE to see 1,000 in my pocket I think most people would find good uses to that money

No mention by Chuck that the 1000 bucks “Private Sector” bonus will be taxed and the feds will get a revenue increase without having to vote for\against a tax increase.
No mention by Chuck that the TEMPORARY “Government” 40 buck FICA tax reduction was predicated on a 50k a year salary, so more folks than not got less.
No mention by Chuck that the same FICA tax reduction cause the SS fund to lose a couple of years of solvency.
No mention by Chuck that it was Pelosi who said:
“Unemployment benefits injects demand into the economy,” Pelosi said,...that when families have money to spend it keeps the economy churning. “It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name.” Pelosi said the aid has the “double benefit” of helping those who lost their jobs and acting as a “job creator”.

Yup, and that "tax cut" came out of FICA, which meant that the insolvency of Social Security was accelerated, right as the baby boomers started retiring. Not smart.

If it wasn’t for the MSM, there would be no democrat party.

Chuckie and Nancy have nothing, nothing to offer workers or anyone other than a big controlling intrusive government. They would never approve anything where workers may benefit from any type of bonus. They would rather tax the worker more for their vote-buying illegal-immigrant dependency programs.

Maybe not in your out of touch with reality elitist world, but for the rest of us working class stiffs that you disparage, it's not insignificant.

Thanks for screwing up our lives with your tax burden in the first place.

Thanks for nothing.

$1000 allowed me to purchase a very nice AR-15 (in a private sale) and 1000 rounds of ammo. The ammo alone provides about 400,000 yards of precision shooting, which is pretty good mileage. GFY DWS.
