Air Force One is primed to receive an upgrade that will include new refrigerators expected to cost American taxpayers nearly $24 million.
The US Air Force awarded Boeing a $23.6 million contract in December to replace two of the five "cold chiller units" aboard the aircraft used by President Donald Trump.

How large does it need to be for a few quarter pounders?
Keep that Diet Coke COLD!
(Ctrl + a few times, as needed.)
I don’t know about for bodies, but they probably carry lots of meds and blood that need cooling.
How many times did Moochie raid the ‘fridge during the multitudes of vacations bin Obama took?
Somebody please point my confused little pinhead in the right direction.
Is this the same new Air Force One that Trump famously got a deal on when he first became president? I though this was a brand new jet?
Trump Persuades Boeing to Cut Cost of New Air Force One
In other news...still no outrage on Obama’s vacations, his wife’s vacations, his kids’s vacations...
I think that's a good thing.
I’ve only heard the term “cold chiller unit” in the context of central plants for big buildings. The “chiller” unit cools water in pipes to 51 to 53 degrees. The chilled water is then pumped to various locations to air handlers (big commercial fans), and this is how “air conditioning” is accomplished.
I don’t think the chiller unit mentioned is just an overpriced refrigerator, it probably has to do with upgrading the A/C system for a very large aircraft.
Has the new 747-8 been delivered yet?
You won’t get any argument from me. I just wanted people to be better able to see just how healthy the people in the pic were.
I believe it’s essentially an HVAC unit.
The next trip with the press aboard, serve warm sodas. That will get the contract done fast.
Taxpayers should be hollerin’ about this. The Defense Department is another bloated bureaucracy that wastes billions of dollars. Much of what is spent is determined by what companies have a hold over what politicians and it has nothing to do with what the military actually needs or wants. This is why conservatives should be concerned over military spending. The system is broken, and there should not be a knee-jerk “amen” every time they want more money.
Maybe they couldnt get the stench of fried chicken and watermelon out of the old units!
I’ll take the one in yellow.
Are the two ladies in red to the right twins?
The lady dressed in black, second from the left - what is that on her right eye?
HVAC units for an aircraft the size of a 747 are incredibly expensive - but nowhere near $24 million. Still - for the stupid media labeling this as “refrigerators” is intellectually dishonest.
That being said - this is essentially a new aircraft - why the need for an “upgrade”???
Then again - I feel a fool - I just went and read the article... it IS for a refrigerator!!!
