Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has made clearing a backlog of FOIA requests a priority and reassigned staff to what State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert has called “an all-hands on deck” effort to clear the backlog. Significant progress has been made, and the number of outstanding requests — which stood at 22,000 in January 2017 — has been reduced to about 13,000, Tillerson said in November, adding that he hopes the backlog will be cleared by the end of 2018.

...

I thought sanctimonious liberals supported transparency.

The “just taking orders” defense does not hold water when the charge is this serious.

Govt employees do nothing productive anyways. They spend other people’s money, create harmful regulations, and surf the internet.
If you want a real job, create skills and go private.

If they aren’t receiving demotions or pay cuts then too bad. Every job description I’ve ever read contains the catch-all “And other duties as assigned.”

They are free to seek employment elsewhere.

Brilliant, so you don’t like that there’s no glamor in your current work assignment so you go out and hire a lawyer. Years later your out of a job and in an interview and your interviewor says “it says here you sued your last employer”. Tell me about that!

Your screwed!

None of these useless eaters lost their job or took a payout. They have been shunted aside so some real work can be done by Rex Tillerson. They are pissed off because their projected career track with salary increases has stalled out under Rex Tillerson and Donald Trump.

Under DJT they are not the legends in their own minds that they would be under a President Hillary or were under Obama. No more bragging at Washington DC cocktail parties about the “fantastic” job you are doing under John Kerry like selling us out to the Iranian mullahs. Plus (hopefully) they are not getting any salary jumps which really galls them. In the real world they would be fired because their services are no longer needed.

THEY ARE DEAD WOOD! That really should be pruned.

MAGA. In the same vein, Most of the Dept. of Agriculture employees should be sent out to farms and ranches to work.
Win-Win.....farms get free help and swamp creatures get to see what honest hard work is like.

there is absolutely no reason for State to have more than about 1,500 employees.

are being put in career purgatory because of their previous work on policy priorities associated with President Barack Obama

Where was your courage then?

You whine that you're being put out to pasture... you chose your fate when you threw in with the communists.

We should indeed fire anyone who does not do the required work. In addition, IF CNN was a truly professional news outlet, it would consider firing the “journalist” who wrote this piece. Why? ...I submit this evidence of horrible writing

“The situation has got (sic) so serious....”

The clear lack of critical thinking alone should be sufficient basis.

The State Dept. has always been the most fetid part of the DC Swam....chock full of left-wing bureaucratic management and employees who hate the U.S., capitalism, borders, nationalistic pride, Israel, conservatives, Trump....the list goes on.

I know....my late cousin was career state....and I could write a book.

“Elections have consequences” or so we were told by a recent President. But, of course, those consequences were fine when he said it, weren’t they?

I agree with firing them. I also don’t understand what they are whining about. They still get paid their high level job wage while they are doing low level work. They should be given the closet treatment. Give them an empty desk in the basement, an uncomfortable chair, no phone, no wi-if, no computer, no cell, and just let them sit there. A month or so of that and they will leave on their own.

Ah yes, it seems I’ve heard this refrain before once or twice. I believe it goes, “Perhaps you’re not aware of just who it is you’re dealing with here!”

The proper response is, “Yes, I believe I do. And you forgot to bring your plunger.”

Isn’t it standard procedure for the new administration to shuffle and/or lay off people from the old one? Every one of these lawsuits should be summarily dismissed as frivolous.
