The chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee acknowledged Thursday that a reference made between two FBI employees of a "secret society" could have been said in jest as opposed to evidence of an anti-Donald Trump plot.

Interesting, given that, the other night, Sen. Johnson, after discussing the texts, later told Bret Baier that "...we have an informant talking about a group that was holding secret meetings off-site." An "informant" and references to a text are two entirely different things...

I don’t think CNN reported on the ‘secret society’ claim to begin with, so their readers must be scratching their heads about with this is all about.

Yep. CNN is doing its usual misleading reporting. Johnson agrees the text may have been a joke, so (CNN conflates) he is taking back his previous contention.

Nobody should be surprised. CNN avoids the damning story regarding liberals/democrats but picks the story up when it casts doubt or paints a good image of their customer.

I don’t know if it’s possible to confuse a CNN loyalist. It would be like explaining how fire works to a log right before using it for fuel.
