This story was supposed to be over, except for the ongoing review of how the mistake was made and what can be done to prevent it in the future. When that doomsday alert hit every phone in Hawaii earlier this month, letting everyone know that the actual “fire and fury” was incoming and they probably had minutes to live, everybody was praying it was a mistake. Thank God, it actually did turn out to be a mistake. Or did it?
We were never told the identity of the mysterious Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA) employee who supposedly “pushed the wrong button” and set off the alarm. As much as we’d like to have all the details, that sort of made sense, at least in the short term. If they threw the poor sap out in the spotlight on the day of the false alarm, it’s not entirely crazy to think that some enraged locals might hunt him down. (I’m just going to go with assuming it was a guy at this point and apologize later if it was a lady.) But in private, he was set to cooperate with the ongoing investigations being conducted by both the FCC and HI-EMA. That should help get things sorted out and make sure the system is up to snuff in the future.
There’s just one problem. The “button pusher” in question has gone silent after a single written statement and is refusing to cooperate with the investigation. (Honolulu Star-Advertiser)

Probably, and his motive was that he thought he was creating a firestorm for Trump. His lawyers may have told him he could be criminally charged.

WHY was he/she pushing buttons in the first place??? I don't think anyone has asked THAT yet.

Who cares? They can pull up the OMI on their screen, see that the two buttons are next to each other. He already said he pushed the wrong one, and ignored the warning about “are you sure”. What more do they need to know?
Sometimes, we just overinvestigate the wrong things.
Of course, the government doesn’t want to investigate the REAL problem, which is the entire system — why did they do an OMI like that? Why was one worker able to send out such a distress notice? Why couldn’t they rescind it quickly, as multiple people knew it was not right?
Why don’t they have a system in place for the test? I mean, they KNEW the test went off at a set time, what was the chance that an actual attack was going to be alerted at the PRECISE time a test was going to be run?
Why did the governor need a working cell phone to intervene? Why didn’t he have one? Why did the news media, which can tell us in 30 seconds how “wrong” a pronouncement is from a presidential tweet, take so long to realize the alert was a test?
No, let’s all get worked up because the guy who pushed the wrong button, who was already fired, has decided he doesn’t like being the scapegaot any more.

Supposedly it was for the routine change of shift test that they always do but hadn’t up till that day.
I'll go one further: This is probably the work of a member of an officially aggrieved group.

I’m always in for a good conspiracy. . .like the alarm was sent because Norks launched a nuke missile at Hawaii and it failed in flight and fell harmlessly into the Pacific Ocean. . .yeah, that’s the ticket, that’s what happened and because there is no proof that it happened, that is proof of a conspiracy and cover-up.
