President Trump proposed legislation on Thursday that would provides a path to citizenship for as many as 1.8 million young, undocumented immigrants in exchange for an end to decades of family-based migration policies, a massive border wall and a vast crackdown on other illegal immigrants already living in the country.
Describing the plan as “extremely generous” but a take-it-or-leave-it proposal by the president, White House officials said they hoped it will be embraced by conservatives and centrists in Congress as the first step in an even broader effort to fix the nation’s broken immigration system.
But the plan — drafted by Stephen Miller, the president’s hard-line domestic policy adviser and John F. Kelly, the White House chief of staff — was immediately rejected by Democrats, pro-immigration activists and some Republicans, with some describing it as nothing but a heartless attempt to rid the country of immigrants and slam shut the nation’s borders.

The fact the Trump WH is able to compromise this much on foreign invaders is Sad .
The fact the usual WH cheerleaders are missing tonight shows the grand WH proposal crashed like a steel balloon .
The WH plan allows 1.8 invaders to drag into the
USA immediate family too so the real figure is more like 8 or 9 more million .

It is obvious that the Reamers are going to stay. The devil is in the details. There is a difference in an ordinary Illegal and the Reamer because of the method of getting here.
Trump is properly using this issue as a negotiating tool.
We don't have to deport them. We just have to get them to leave on their own. If you doubt that's possible, then consider: their countries of origin got them to leave, so why can't we? It's simply a matter of incentives.
But that is NOT the plan. It's 1.8 million DACA people and their parents, and out with everyone else, far more than just the 40 million illegals currently here, on top of ending huge amounts of legal immigration that is even more insidious than the illegal variety---because we can't deport the bastards when we catch them!
One of the ironies of Trump's economic progress is that it will draw more people to America.

Yea, the Trump voters who sat out backing Judge Moore in December may sit on their hands again if Trump runs in 2020.
But why do so if you can get them to leave on their own? Resources are scarce, and these immigration officials' time would be better spent protecting the border from invasion, not raiding 7-Elevens in the heartland.
Change the incentives, get the illegals to leave on their own, and free up resources for more important matters.
Do both. GET OUT!
The President is not a politician, but he understands compromise better than any repub in recent memory. Compromise is a 2 way street - here’s what I want for you to get what you want. The rats are used to getting everything they want while giving up nothing. Quite refreshing.

Yes. I second that sentiment. Deport DACA felons and who were adults under DACA.
But in return, I want a permanent clarification 14th Amendment that clearly doesn’t grant citizenship to anchor babies. I want illegal immigration solved forever.
Reconciliation rule apply only to the budget, where filibusters are not allowed. This does not qualify. It needs 60 votes to pass.
