Generous legalization is trade for wall, more deportations
President Trump will propose a pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal immigrant “Dreamers,” nearly tripling the Obama-era DACA program, the White House said Thursday as it previewed the plan the president will submit to Congress next week.
Mr. Trump’s vision is less than the 3 million people granted legal status under the plan pushed by Sens. Lindsey Graham and Richard Durbin, but far more than the 690,000 people currently in the DACA program.
White House officials said they felt they had to go that far in order to demand major changes on the security side, including the end to catch-and-release of illegal immigrants at the border, faster deportations for children and families, Mr. Trump’s border wall and strict limits on the chain of family migration across the board.
Mr. Trump wants to limit the chain only to spouses and minor children, eliminating parents, siblings and adult children. Those already in the backlog would be allowed to enter, but no future applications would be accepted from extended family.

Any educated comments welcome. I find this VERY disappointing and I am not easily or often disappointed with anything President Trump says or does.

This is why its absolutely necessary to shut off chain migration.
And why its absolutely necessary to get a physical, imposing wall from El Paso to San Diego.
I would add, though, that they need to leave the door open so that “dreamers” who commit future felonies can be removed from the country without a lot of red tape. I suspect that isn’t going to be the case, however.
We can’t always get what we want————but some things about this are good.

If this is anything like the two dozen or so previous announcements of capitulation, what is not said is probably that applications can not even begin until the border security project is completed and proven to operate effectively. Also, any illegals who have committed any offenses other than just being here will be ineligible.
Democrats will back out of the deal by next Wednesday.
From what I've read, the DoJ has been rather busy collecting illegals who've committed crimes and doing the needful, whether they are "dreamers" (gag puke) or not.
That's what I'm hoping.
