Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Thursday rejected the idea of giving young undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship, one day after President Trump said he was open to the idea.
I do not believe we should be granting a path to citizenship to anybody here illegally, Cruz told reporters, according to Bloomberg. Doing so is inconsistent with the promises we made to the man and women who elected us.
For some reason that to me is utterly inexplicable, we see Republicans falling all over themselves to gallop to the left of [former President] Obama in a way that is contrary to the promises made to the voters who elected us, he added.
Trump on Wednesday said he was open to a path to citizenship for DACA recipients in exchange for funding for a border wall and other security measures.

Agree!
Fully agree! Cruz is telling it like it is. It would be indeed “inconsistent” with what was promised.
Trump knows that the borderless left will never agree to a wall, so his offer is mute.
Cruz can talk about his own promises, but not Donald’s. Donald promised a Wall, and some kind of unspecified door.
They aren’t “dreamers”, as the “Dream Act” never passed. It’s an irritating misnomer, and a clever word game used by the left. Use the term “dreamers” instead of “illegal aliens” to garner more sympathy.
“was promised”? Why this shift to the passive voice?
YES
Well Cruz, yer wrong.
It will be wrong to grant citizenship to anyone here illegally, for a variety of reasons.
However, we want 5 key points and granting citizenship at some very distant, very, very distant point is a pretty good trade.
Illegal: We want to stay in this country and enjoy all of its rights and freedoms.
President Trump: Wow, you really ARE a dreamer.
Hopefully.
lol!
The Naturally? Born Citizen is telling us that.
I’m glad he didn’t run against Hillary. A good chunk of the right that at least held its nose and voted for Donald, would have stayed home.
Mute?
Yep, no path to citizenship for ANY illegals AND NO PATH TO ANY SORT OF LEGAL STATUS.
Here’s the thing.
Give them any kind of a break where they can stay here legally and eventually the Federal Courts will give them a path to citizenship, claiming that failure to do so makes them “second class” and violates the 14th. Amendment.
Dont destroy the dream by giving them citizenship.
Let them forever have the dream.
Some reports said his Cuban dad and American mom had naturalized as Canadians before his birth there.
Others said, they had not.
To quote the CommicRAT's favorite loser, "At this point, what difference does it make?"
If we exclude them from the census as well I might consider it, since House Districts and by extension Electoral College votes, are determined by population ....
