As walls close in on FBI, the bureau lashes out at its antagonists
The Hill ^ | 1/25/18 | Sharyl Attkisson

Posted on 01/25/2018 11:43:18 AM PST by markomalley

What happens when federal agencies accused of possible wrongdoing — also control the alleged evidence against them? What happens when they’re the ones in charge of who inside their agencies — or connected to them — ultimately gets investigated and possibly charged?

Those questions are moving to the forefront as the facts play out in the investigations into our intelligence agencies’ surveillance activities.

There are two overarching issues.

First, there’s the alleged improper use of politically-funded opposition research to justify secret warrants to spy on U.S. citizens for political purposes.

Second, if corruption is ultimately identified at high levels in our intel agencies, it would necessitate a re-examination of every case and issue the officials touched over the past decade — or two — under administrations of both parties.

This is why I think the concerns transcend typical party politics.

It touches everybody. It’s potentially monumental.

This week, the FBI said it was unfair for the House Intelligence Committee not to provide its memo outlining alleged FBI abuses. The committee wrote the summary memo after reviewing classified government documents in the Trump-Russia probe.

The FBI’s complaint carries a note of irony considering that the agency has notoriously stonewalled Congress. Even when finally agreeing to provide requested documents, the Department of Justice uses the documents’ classified nature to severely restrict who can see them — even among members of Congress who possess the appropriate security clearance. Members who wish to view the documents must report to special locations during prescribed hours in the presence of Department of Justice minders who supervise them as they’re permitted to take handwritten notes only (you know, like the 1960s).

What most people don’t know is that the FBI and Department of Justice already know exactly what Congressional investigators have flagged in the documents they’ve reviewed, because three weeks ago the Senate Judiciary Committee sent its own summary memo to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Department of Justice Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The committee also referred to the Department of Justice a recommendation for possible charges against the author of the political opposition research file, the so-called “Trump dossier”: Christopher Steele.

The head of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Republican Charles Grassley co-authored the memo with fellow Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. Grassley says it’s important for the public to see the unclassified portions of the memo. But unlike the House, which can release the memo on its own (and is taking steps to do so), Senate rules require permission from the Department of Justice — the possibly offending agency — approve or declassify the memo. And that’s reached a snag.

According to Grassley, the FBI is blocking the release of the unclassified sections of the Senate memo by falsely claiming that they contain classified information.

“It sure looks like a bureaucratic game of hide the ball, rather than a genuine concern about national security,” said Grassley in a speech on the Senate floor yesterday.

Grassley also pointed out that agencies accused of possible improprieties are the ones controlling the information. It’s the FBI who may have misused the unverified “dossier” opposition research, allegedly presenting it to a secret court as if it were verified intelligence.

“[FBI] Director [James] Comey testified in 2017 that it was ‘salacious and unverified’,” said Grassley. “So, it was a collection of unverified opposition research funded by a political opponent in an election year. Would it be proper for the Obama administration — or any administration — to use something like that to authorize further investigation that intrudes on the privacy of people associated with its political opponents? That should bother civil libertarians of any political stripe.”

Democrats and many in the media are taking the side of the intelligence community, calling the Republican efforts partisan. House Democrats are said to be writing a counter-memo.

“We need to produce our own memo that lays out the actual facts and shows how the majority memo distorts the work of the FBI and the Department of Justice,” said Rep. Adam Schiff, the lead Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

Meantime, the Department of Justice has officially warned the House Intelligence Committee not to release its memo. It's like the possible defendant in a criminal trial threatening prosecutors for having the audacity to reveal alleged evidence to the judge and jury.

This is the first time I can recall open government groups and many reporters joining in the argument to keep the information secret. They are strangely uncurious about alleged improprieties with implications of the worst kind: Stasi-like tactics used against Americans. “Don’t be irresponsible and reveal sources and methods,” they plead.

As for me? I don’t care what political stripes the alleged offenders wear or whose side they’re on. If their sources and methods are inappropriate, they should be fully exposed and stopped.

I just watched a youtube of Scraamooch with CNN's Cuomo. They were arguing about the "bombshell" that Trump tried to fire Mueller. Cuomo insisted it was a thing. Scaramooch stated the obvious, that he didn't fire him...duh....Of course Cuomo was screaming that it was the biggest scandal since Paris took off with Helen.

Anyway, that means nothing and is irrelevant. But during the argument, Cuomo cited the "missing text message", "secret society" stuff and said that the White House had "backed off" those claims.

Has anybody heard anything about any "backing off" by the White House or is Cuomo just making up stuff like he do.

Read this if you haven’t yet.

Explains WHY the DoJ has not released the memo.

Dynomite stuff. From our own LS (not pinging him since he’s too busy!) Read at link or what someone copied, the link has the Hill article he references. Link also has LS’s nicknames chart. Talk about “Burning Down the House”.

https://twitter.com/LarrySchweikart/status/956897453613006848

1)The last thing I wanted to do this morning was a thread, but alas, the situation requires it.

Sharyl Attkisson is one of THE best reporters out there, but apparently she never reads twitter. Many of us have said this for some time . . .

2) . . . that DOJ knows exactly what is in this documentation because

SESSIONS. HAS. BEEN. INVESTIGATING. THIS. STUFF. FOR. A. YEAR.

3) The biggest new revelation she offers is that potentially ALL of the FBI’s work for years may now be undone, at risk, and under scrutiny.

4) That of course would be U1, Benghazi (@CharlieDaniels ) Fast and Furious, Lynchmob’s meeting with the Slickster on the tarmac . . .

5) Of course, we all know where this is leading and has been leading for eight years.

To Zero.

6) It is inescapable that once you wash off all the dung, Zero will be sticking out with a pile of interoffice memos with his slimy name checked off, meaning he viewed them.

7) If you don’t know how gubment works, dozens of agencies and individuals will review even the most closely held initiatives/agenda items/strategies.

Each is sent to the Department (say, Justice or Interior) that the policy is related to. That Dept. will vet it.

8) Usually the Sec will pass it down to deputies to check to make sure a policy doesn’t contradict existing law or policy; if so, they will suggest how to reconcile. Of course, you want to have plausible deniability at every level.

9) Therefore, as each policy is circulated, there is a memo attached with a signoff sheet with everyone’s name (or usually, initials) on it. “HC”=Cankles, “JK”=Haughty (Kerry), “BO”=Zero and so on.

10) This was how investigators and special counsel could prove Reagan had no part in the diversion of funds in Iran-Contra. Ollie North generated a memo, but it never got past John Poindexter. “RR” was on no existing memo of the diversion.

11) Here’s the thing about paperwork in gubment. You think you “got it all.” But you never really do.

Some idiot, somewhere, always has the damn memo. North thought he destroyed every copy, but one surfaced and that was it. Game over.

12) So I guaran-damn-tee you, Zero has memos from the FBI, most likely Combover, High Priest (Priestep—not added to nicks yet), and MacBre (McCabe).

13) We know, via Sen. Ron Johnson’s letter, that High Priest was cc-ing Zero because he said so in a text, and worse: he said he was CHANGING Zero’s title from “president” to “a senior administration official” so as to keep Zero safe.

Uh oh.

14) The moron High Priest provided investigators with the Rosetta Stone, with the text equivalent of Urim and Thummim to decipher all High Priest’s text.

EVERY reference to “a senior administration official” in the texts=ZERO!!!!

15) So the fact that the Hill, even though it’s Attkisson, is now admitting that the DOJ knows means the damn is very close to breaking.

16) So here is a bid admission. I was wrong.

Up til now I thought the MAIN reason for not releasing stuff (the Memo) or not indicting people sooner was to protect sources, make sure everything jibed in docs internally in the case of the Memo, and . . .

16) contd: in the case of not yet indicting arresting people, that this has to be done ALL AT ONCE, in a massive mafioso-type sting.

That is all correct. But now I think I missed something bigger.

17) The reason this is taking so long is that Sessions and DOJ have a crisis far bigger than FBI/DOJ/CIA/DIA corruption/partisanship on their hands.

Not only are they looking at the possibility of criminal charges to an ex-prez . . .

17) which believe me would be massive (no president in American history has been served with serious criminal charges after his tenure)

But DOJ now has to consider that EVERY investigation and case the FBI conducted during that period is tainted.

18) Ponder that for just a moment, and don’t be flip. This is incredibly serious stuff. ALL would have to be reopened or re-started. Benghazi, Fast & Furious, other big investigations would have to be redone if Trump requests it.

19) Virtually EVERY major criminal case the FBI brought would now be under scrutiny. You can see the defense counsels lining up across the country.

I’m betting, on top of everything else, Sessions and his team are getting ulcers over this.

20) Zero’s and Combover’s FBI have utterly destroyed American justice, and not just by letting Cankles walk or Lerner skate. Those are big crimes. But in terms of process and procedure their evil has screwed every aspect of justice for almost a decade now.

Oh, I figured that. I hadn't even heard that they had backed off or even made the claim in the first place. And I hadn't heard that the press had even asked them the question. But of course, I don't catch everything.

Typical lefty dance. That's what I get for watching CNN.

Scaramooch handled him pretty well. If the press asked me about it I would have a two sentence statement as follows:

Huomo: When should Trump be impeached for trying to fire the special counsel.

Bagster: Did he fire him?

Huomo: No.

Bagster: Then shut the F up. Bye.

Huomo: Let's go to break.

House rules don’t require permission from the DOJ, and the Nunes Memo belongs to the House.

You can’t. You will be held accountable.

I don't see it.

Even after all of the crimes the Clintons committed, the impeachment, the disbarment, the mass murder in Serbia, the influence peddling and bribery at the Clinton Foundation, etc., they won a majority of the votes last election day.

They would be in CHARGE of this corrupt banana republic, only one man could stop them, a man named Trump.

They are still obstructing justice with the full weight of the executive branch agencies and media supporting them.

This fantasy that the criminals in government will be taken down is childish.

History clearly shows that only a military supported purge which includes mass arrests, imprisonments, seizing of assets, and executions will put a dent in these still currently untouchable bastards.

I sincerely think Trump doesn't have the stones to take the next step.

Time is wasting away, less that 300 days until the GOP loses the House, and then Trump is impeached.

Based on the treason actions by the FBI that have been uncovered, Trump is well within his rights to declare a State of Emergency and go all Erdogan on the domestic enemy and the press.

The 2016–17 purges in Turkey are an ongoing series of purges by the government of Turkey enabled by a state of emergency in reaction to the 15 July failed coup d’état.

After the immediate arrest of military personnel accused of making the coup attempt, arrests were expanded to include further elements of the Turkish military service, as well as various civil servants and private businesses.

These later actions, reflecting a power struggle between secularist and Islamist political elites in Turkey, which began to be known as a purge, affected people who were not active in nor aware of the coup as it happened, but who were alleged to be connected with the Gülen movement, a group which the government blames for the coup. Even the mere possession of books authored by Gülen may be considered evidence of such a connection and cause for arrest.

Tens of thousands of public servants and soldiers were purged in the first week following the coup.
For example, on 16 July 2016, just one day after the coup was foiled, 2,745 judges were dismissed and detained.

This was followed by the dismissal, detention or suspension of over 100,000 officials, a figure that had increased to over 110,000 by early November 2016, over 125,000 after the 22 November decree, reaching at least 135,000 with the 7 January’s decrees, and about 160,000 after 29 April’s suspensions and arrests.

In the business sector, the government forcefully seized assets of over 1000 companies worth $11 billion, on the charge of being related to Gulen and the coup.

By late 2017 over a thousand companies and their assets owned by individuals allegedly affiliated with the movement had been seized and generally such things as goods produced by such companies had become boycotted by the public.

The purges also extend to the media with television channels, newspapers and other media outlets that were seen as critical of the government being shut down, critical journalists being arrested and Wikipedia being blocked since April 2017.

Since early September 2016, the post-coup emergency state allowed a turn against Kurdish groups, most notably with the dismissal of about 12,000 Kurdish teachers and 24 elected mayors and arrest of the co-chairs of the Peoples’ Democratic Party and Kurdish culture for alleged links with the Kurdistan Workers Party.

That’s the point, genius- he has NO religion. Look up how he got into office— a real mr. xenophobe who said he’d get rid of the invading black criminals— yes, that’s right- he’d remove them (hence his support of a new class of illegal au pairs for all the Bloomberg progressive elite). Alfonse D’Amato lost, to the jew-”ish” community- he could tell you all about this.

Gosh, do you mean he could be a Seventh Day Adventist, cause they have Saturday shabbat?

Listen, FR”iend” there are orthodox practising Jews— religious Jews here who know EXACTLY what I mean. Those who support Israel vs. the liberal “reformed” non-practicing small j “jew-ish” who take on all the “cultural” mantle and behaviour politically gladhanding the religious (in much the same way as other Progs do to get the evangelical vote in the South) to get votes- but in truth are just mobsters, who cater to little pervos like Weiner, and are anathema to practicing devout Jews. They are friends of the islamofascists, of the George Soros’s of the world, and NO friend to the patriotic American Jews. You should listen to Mark Levin on this. He’d be happy to tell you all about “schmuckie” schumer.

This “stuff”, points out what a fraud schumer is- what would he know about Sunday in the first place if he was really what he portrays himself to be. And indeed, just how scared he now is- as an email user of dear hitlery’s private server, he is. And thus, now to be discarded by the Uniparty and the dhims, for piss-poor negotiating on DACA and legalizing illegals for their voter base, at the same time jetissoning more baggage from hills.
