Back in 1980 I went fishing for Albacore and Blue Fin tuna on a boat out of San Diego. We were about 60 miles southwest of Point Loma and we saw a Soviet “fishing trawler”. The fish were biting near the Soviet ship so the boat I was on and other fishing boats circled around close to the Soviets. We were close enough to see their faces, the color of their hair, the blue denim pants, the hammer and sickle flag, etc. The boat was covered with electronic antenna’s, but not one piece of fishing equipment.
