Energy Secretary Rick Perry characterized the recent boom in natural gas exports as a development the U.S. can use to spread freedom all over the world.

Shipping the country’s vast reserves of natural gas to far-flung parts of the world is akin to “exporting freedom,” Perry told Fox Business’s “Mornings with Maria” in an interview Wednesday from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

“We’re exporting to our allies in Europe the opportunity to truly have a choice of where do you buy your energy from. That’s freedom. And that kind of freedom is priceless,” he said of U.S.’ fossil fuel production, especially that of natural gas.

Just plain truth. Free, competitive markets are a form of freedom. Particularly when the competition is low on scruples.

While we are exporting energy, we should also be exporting desalination facilities. Buy 50 billion in energy and get a desalination facility tossed in for free.

I like how Mexico is going to import also. That said...if energy reform lasts in Mexico, there is no reason they can’t be natural gas self-sufficient, also.

Europe is truly insane, however. They would quite literally import from a single supplier, Gazprom (majority owned by the Russian government), than allow imports of LNG by American PRIVATE companies.

Perry is right, for sure. But it’s difficult to sell freedom to a people who don’t want freedom and who actually seem to have it.

‘’ ‘’ Just plain truth. Free, competitive markets are a form of freedom. Particularly when the competition is low on scruples. ‘’ ‘’

But only when it is free and competitive. In these case they want governments to finance infrastructure and using political means to strangle competition.
