Before the election the conspirators were attempting to turn the election to Hillary.

After the election they were engineering a coup d'etat, aka the "insurance policy". They were using all the police powers of the FBI and the DOJ to achieve their ends. This is treason. The conspirators need to go to jail for a long time.
