Sen. Ron Johnson: Under Comey, Lynch, “Deep-seated Corruption at Highest Levels of FBI”

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin is anything but a bomb thrower.

So it’s striking that, on Tucker Carlson’s show this evening, Johnson—speaking of the actions of former FBI director James Comey and Obama AG Loretta Lynch—said that there was “deep-seated corruption at the highest levels of the FBI.”

In support of his allegation of deep-seated corruption, Johnson, chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, cited:

Sure. Thousands are corrupt is what you think?? How silly. There are thousands of rank and file FBI agents, investigators and office folks who have no knowledge as to what went on. To think otherwise is ignorant.

Johnson hastened to add that “the vast majority of FBI folks are high-integrity, they’re risking their lives to keep us safe.”

On the contrary, if the text message disappearance is any indication, the rot is deep and detailed. I would love to believe that the vast majority of FBI folks are exactly as Johnson just said, but I don't.

Here is why Johnson may indeed be wrong.

If mid level and lower level FBI employees see higher up agency bureaucrats obstruct justice and lie when they get into a pinch, what will they do? Exactly what they have seen their bosses do in a unfavorable situation.

No, that isn't what I think. You put that in my mouth, so I can only assume it's what you think. Would you care to defend that?

I said the rot is deep, and it is, demonstrably. Deletion of the texting is not something that can only be done at a high level. There has to be involvement at a technician's level and it has to be covered at a supervisory level. The trust is gone, and if good people are hurt by that, that's how corruption works.

Uh gee Senator Ron, why stop at the FBI and DOJ? The corruption was thorough, all the way to the top.
