Toronto police say an 11-year-old girl's account of having her hijab cut on the way to school, was not true. Why she lied -- and whether she was pressured -- is not clear. Mike Drolet reports.
Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is defending her comments against hate crime following an alleged attack on an 11-year-old Toronto girl wearing a hijab that later turned out to be untrue.
The Grade 6 student told school officials and the media at a news conference last Friday that a man approached her from behind and cut her hijab.

Shortly after the alleged attack was reported, Wynne and Toronto Mayor John Tory called it a cowardly act of hatred.
But a Toronto police investigation concluded Monday that the incident did not happen.
During an event in Barrie, Ont., today, Wynne says politicians and citizens need to speak out against hate crime at every opportunity and say that kind of behaviour is unacceptable.
She says its unfortunate when there is an incident that turns out not to be real, and has previously said she is relieved it didnt happen.
Toronto Mayor John Tory has also defended his decision to speak out, saying he would continue to do so any time there are reports or allegations of hate or intolerance in our city.
Why are they not rejoicing that the incident is not real?

She’s 11 and did this herself. Most likely she was bored and was playing around with scissors or was embarrassed by her appearance.
Well until you DO know . . .
... still important to believe the next one.
Kind of like "even though we've had massive flooding, mudslides and road washouts, drought conditions still exist, and restrictions on water usage are still in place."
And "even though there has been no global temperature increase in 17 years, we are still in the grips of the man-made global warming crisis."
We get more and more of this nonsense. We're immersed in it.

When people invent charges to level against others, this is perfectly ok.
Khawlah Noman was walking to school with her younger brother on Friday when she felt somebody pull the hood of her winter jacket down. Protected from the rain was the 11-year-olds light blue hijab the target of a man holding a pair of scissors with a blue handle.
Over the next 10 minutes, she said she was attacked not once, but twice, by a man who is now a suspect in a Toronto police hate crime investigation.
I felt really scared and confused, she told reporters Friday afternoon, recounting the traumatic incident in a Scarborough neighbourhood near Birchmount Rd. and Sheppard Ave. E.
I didnt feel comfortable about what was going on.
When her attacker pulled her hood down, she said he cut her hijab from the bottom up. Terrified, she turned to face him a young Asian male, roughly 5-foot-8 to six feet tall, wearing black pants, a black hoodie and brown gloves. He had a moustache, the girl told police, and glasses, too. He was smiling at her.
Excuse me, but there was no hate crime. Why the compelling need to speak out against it when it didn't happen?
It was a filing-a-false-police-report crime.
Why not speak out against people who file false police reports to get attention or to get sympathy or for activism's sake and end up wasting the law enforcement's time and resources, instead of focusing on a "crime" that didn't happen?
"....Wynne and Toronto Mayor John Tory called it a 'cowardly act of hatred'....before the police investigation concluded that the incident did not happen...." Oopsie!
Reminds me of Obama at the beginning of his first term when, after admitting he didn't know anything about the case yet, decided to blurted out anyway that it was clear the Cambridge police "acted stupidly". Had to have a beer summit to get that mess he created cleared up.
Maybe you politicians can learn to keep your pie holes closed long enough for law enforcement to investigate and determine what, if anything, happened? The leaders are quick on the trigger to say something, anything, before they know anything themselves.
Must be a liberal thing. Jumping to conclusions, that is.
an 11 year old girl lies about an attack and her little brother swears to it ?
mother put them up to it.
D. Lusional.
The false reporting of this kind of crime should be a hate crime. Because, it is made to promote hatred.
I can’t STAND that womyn, but I also know that, to leftists, feminists, and the vast majority of people under the age of 25, she can do NO wrong. There are, quite literally, delighted squeals from her adoring admirers whenever she speaks on university and college campuses.
As much as I hate to say it, I think Ontario is stuck with her for as long as she decides to keep running for Premier. There just doesn’t seem to be enough opposing voices to vote against her, and the provincial conservatives have been as dead as a fossilised dog turd since the days of Mike Harris.
Prolly something she learned from her parents.......
Add it to the literal fake hate crimes list

And if there really was such an atmosphere of hate, no one would feel a need to fake it.
