It’s a fine gesture, but do you think Pelosi or Feinstein or McConnell care about their piddling Congressional salaries. The folks it hurts are the new guys who aren’t responsible for this mess in the first place, except maybe cravenly going along with their leadership. 27th amendment to the Constitution protects against that. The pay for a congress-critter cannot be changed until after an election. The current House or Senate can vote to change the pay structure for congress AFTER this coming November’s election, not now.
How do they have time to conceive of this bill, coordinate all these senators and write and introduce the bill, but not figure out a way to end the shutdown itself?
