For reference, here’s what the story linked on Drudge says:
“Investigators in both House and Senate were stunned late Friday when, receiving a batch of newly-released texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, they also received notice from the bureau that the FBI “failed to preserve” Strzok-Page messages from December 14, 2016 through May 17, 2017.”
That the FBI failed to preserve them does not necessarily mean that copies have not been preserved by others, namely the OIG.

How obvious is it the missing texts are from the time of Comey’s firing right up to Mueller’s appointment.

CLEANUP IN AISLE 3 -
ChuckRossDC:
"Have had a couple of questions on this -- I'm told that DOJ's inspector general *does not* have the missing Strzok-Page text messages."

However, in a twitter exchange I had w/ the author of the story, he tells me that his sources indicate IG
does not have the texts.

I objected that the wording of his letter seems to indicate that OIG has them, but Chuck Ross at Daily Caller says no.
