The discovery that I share an opinion with Donald Trump is a new experience for me, one which I dont expect to reoccur soon, but when he took to Twitter last week to explain why he would not be opening his countrys new London embassy, I confess, I could rather see his point.
**** I cant argue with his description of the recently vacated former embassy, built in 1960, as perhaps the best located and finest in London. Extending a façade across an entire side of Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, this was the first purpose-built embassy in the capital.

I absolutely trust Trump’s judgment but I think there’s an outside chance that that plastic crapola might have some type of counter-surveillance value, maybe.
I have a couple of high school buddies at State - they all tell me the staff absolutely hates these fortress buildings. They believe it makes them even bigger targets. Plus the new fortress buildings typically need to be driven to because they are outside of town. My buddies say they now feel more in danger because any bad guy knows which cars to follow and target.
My guess is these fortress buildings are simply a frenzy of graft & kickbacks for the consultants, builders, and associates swamp creatures.
Or they’re Borg.
My feeling is that there should be a few smaller buildings.
Embassy buildings for foreign governments in DC are tiny compared to this monstrosity.
VERY clever!
I bid and built a lot of government crap and this is more likely the Hillary State Department's chosen architect's Gee-Whiz factor.
That is the contractor's appreciation as to how the owner's architect spent an extra 20% of the budgeted cost. To provoke a "Gee-Whiz I wonder what hold that up" architects add their design signature.
How ugly and embarrassing.

Prickly new U.S.embassy.
The new building looks like it hasn’t been finished.
