Pathetic, isn’t it.

OK, we’re talking 4th graders. I’m guessing the name of the strain excited the curiosity of the girl and motivated her to ‘show and tell’ at school. And she unwittingly dosed fellow students with the drug, thereby setting up a possible test of the effects on children. I would be interested over time to see if there is a sudden effect on grades, one way or the other. How would we react if they were able to read each others’ minds after this point in time, for example?

That’s just it. We don’t know. For all we know that might have been the cause of the Salem witch trials - children with sudden abilities with no instruction on how to deal with it.

Toxin
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)

Source
Hashish, marijuana, and hemp, Cannabis.

General Information
Pets are more commonly poisoned from marijuana through ingestion other than inhalation. THC is the toxin that causes the symptoms and is absorbed quickly after ingestion. THC has strong antiemetic effects which make it difficult to successfully induce vomiting to remove the toxin from the pet. Most animals will recover, but it may take 1-3 days.

Toxic Dose
Depends on the concentration of THC and the form of marijuana ingested.

Signs
Ataxia, dilated pupils, ‘glazed’ eyes, drop in body temperature, increase or decrease in heart rate, bizarre behavior, hyperesthesia, disorientation, somnolence, depression (may last 18-36 hours), coma, excitation is seen occasionally, drooling, tremors, respiratory depression, or death.

Yet cannabis is federally outlawed even with a doctor’s prescription. It has zero toxicity and has never caused overdose or injury.

...

That must be why the girl lost her vision.

Cannabis prohibition is purely done for profit. It is no way about “society”, “safety” or any such rubbish

Nice talking points / S ...

I don't know how old you are, but I grew up in the 70's

Dopers / Stoners were commonplace. Many friends would up basically getting stoned everyday, lost all ambition, in many cases moved on the harder drugs, threw their life away...they were stoned on stuff far weaker then what's on the market today...

I had a few friends I found on the beach dead from drug overdoses and I'm the guy who got them stoned the first time passing a doobie.

So don't push that BS MJ is harmless.

I myself moved from smoking everyday all the way to coke and meth...before the Lord saved me...

Personally, I'm all for carefully screened medical use under a doctor care and supervision, but we both know that is not what is happening...

Your BS is not helping...

Which products are children accidentally swallowing most often?

Based on calls made to poison control centers in 2010, pain relievers — both prescription and over-the-counter — accounted for 31% of fatal poisonings in children age 5 and under. Allergy pills and sedatives, such as sleeping pills or antidepressants, each represent 17% of fatal poisonings in youngsters.

I call fake news. The second link found 279 cases of death where cannabis was detected in the victim. For obvious suicides this is strange because cannabis is anti-depressant by nature, hence the ‘*hit-faced grin’ common to its use. There was no direct link, as in the THC caused this to happen in the body resulting in cascading blah, blah, and death. I gave up counting the word ‘might’ in the articles, which ‘bout summed up the report’s veracity.

Far more stories are out there of children taking brightly colored prescription meds to school as candy. Should we ban prescription meds?

“Not a single case of toxicity or overdoes, huh?”

There were two possible cases WORLDWIDE for all of known history and they have been debunked. One was determined to be a preexisting artery condition. Another was determined to be mixing with other drugs.

Yet we know with absolute 100% certainty, people are dying every single day from Alcohol poisoning (6 Americans DAILY). People are dying every day from opiod overdoses. And children are dying every day from gummy vitamins. 100% causing death every day!

Cannabis prohibition is no way about “safety” but purely about profits.

There is a medical marijuana shop near me which sells a medication called “purple train wreck”.

If they named it Fentanyl or Oxycontin and it killed more people every day than cars and firearms, would you be ok with it?

Is the name the problem? I'm just trying to understand...

You are wrong on the OD and toxic effects and like a typical liberal when confronted change the subject to say other things are bad too. We are not talking about other things. We are talking about cannabis

There are two issues —

Is it an effective medicine?
Are most consumers purchasing it because it is an effective medicine?

If you want to tell me that “purple train wreck” is an effective medicine, I certainly could not disagree. I wouldn’t know anything about that.

If you tell me that most people buy “purple train wreck” because they need medicine, then I’m going to laugh at you.
