Press Secretary Sarah Sanders shared a heart-wrenching tweet Saturday highlighting the sacrifices that the American military makes on a daily basis and continues to make in spite of what occurs in Washington. Elsewhere on Twitter, the Senate GOP shared a #SchumerShutdown Clock counting the hours since Democrats forced a government shutdown.
Sanders tweeted a photo showing an American Forces Network TV screen saying Due to the government shutdown, AFN services are not available. AFN provides television and entertainment such as professional sports, movies, music, and many more simple pleasures to American military around the world.
I received this from a young infantryman serving in Afghanistan this morning. Sad that the men and women who have sacrificed so much are deprived of even the most basic connection to home bc Democrats are playing political games. #SchumerShutdown pic.twitter.com/jcUqU2crF1 Sarah Sanders (@PressSec) January 20, 2018
That image is in stark contrast to the one preceding it. Sanders also shared a letter from Secretary of Defense James Mattis to American military, encouraging them to hold the line as America deals with the shutdown. Despite the federal government impasse, our nations heroes are still required to work and defend the freedom we all enjoy. Mattis also promised his personal commitment that the Department's leadership will do (their) best to mitigate the impact of the disruptions and any financial burdens to military families. He ended his note on an encouraging tone saying, I know our Nation can count on you.

As noted by the Stars and Stripes, the abrupt temporary cancellation of the AFN comes at a particularly bad timing, as many American soldiers were depending upon the network to watch the National Football League Championship games this weekend.
While American forces and many others wait for the Democrats to compromise to reopen the government, the Senate GOP started a #SchumerShutdown Clock to highlight the amount of time that has lapsed since 230 Democrats voted to shutdown the government.

Schumer demanding his illegal voting base at the expense of the Military.
Really ? No tv is a hardship?
Illegal aliens shut down US government aided by Schumer (D)
You’ve never been in the military, stationed on a remote assignement overseas, right?
It’s damn tough not being able to watch playoff games tomorrow.
The horror.
It’s on you and the Democrats Chucky, putting illegal immigrants over our US military. Shameful, disgusting!
What travail is occurring on remote assignments overseas? I’m not noticing the crisis. Was fed, my laundry was done and the other channels still work.
Thanks for that reply. What I might have written ran the risk of not being as polite.
The Democrats hate the military, and they are elated to take the shutdown out on the troops. Morale was rock bottom during the Obama years; how Schumer must miss those good old days.
Just another example of leftard filth weaponizing the shutdown.
There was no reason to shut down AFRTS.
They fought like the mangy rats they are to keep Limbaugh off Armed Forces Radio, then when their BS was called, they agreed to broadcast a single hour.
They had frequent “technical difficulties” that “prevented” them from airing Limbaugh, and when they did they often jammed portions of the program, and always peppered it with slobbering leftard PSAs and short rants.
Back then the people who ran AFRTS were blood enemies of the United States. Looks like nothing has changed.
We control the house, Senate and presidency.
Don’t blame the demorats for this one.
Take your blinders off. Come back to reality.
SCHUmer SCHUtdown....
When you’re overseas in one of the many shitholes you have very few luxuries. Some good hot food and an occasional glimpse of home and sports is good.
Schumer Shutdown.
Says it all.
I hope there is some pay back for schmuckie?
There’s always cricket and the Australian Open on local channels.
Not that big of deal... It’s very transparent aside from the US TV stations. We all had a good laugh at the hardship we are suffering.
Can we not use Reconciliation to pass a budget with 51 votes? Do we even have 51 votes? I’m guessing goofballs like McCain and Flake might just vote against it for spite.
Schumer and the Demonicrats in Congress demonstrate their “Hate America” view.
