Baltimore Police commissioner Kevin Davis fired by Mayor Pugh, citing rising crime

Mayor Catherine Pugh fired Baltimore’s top cop Friday, saying she had grown “impatient” with Commissioner Kevin Davis’ inability to stem the historic pace of killings in the city now stretching into a third year.

She named Deputy Commissioner Darryl D. De Sousa, the top commander in the Police Department’s patrol bureau, as Davis’ replacement, effective immediately, and said she would ask the City Council to make the appointment permanent.

“Crime is now spilling out all over the city, and we’ve got to focus,” Pugh said. “I am charging [De Sousa] and his staff to get on top of it to reduce the numbers and to reduce them quickly.”

Baltimore needs a heyjackass.com of its own.

Even though for some reason heyjackass has yet to post any 2018 stats. Could be a Rahm effect.

Still blaming the cops which is what got them into trouble in the first place.

You have to understand their thinking and sense of entitlement. They literally think that they should not have to do ANYTHING- including picking up after themselves. There is always someone else that does things/takes care of them. They collect government checks and breed. That is their whole life. They would rather live in filth than to lower themselves to clean up.

Didn’t Baltimore residents want the police to leave them alone? They should be ecstatic.

““Crime is now spilling out all over the city, and we’ve got to focus,” Pugh said. “I am charging [De Sousa] and his staff to get on top of it to reduce the numbers and to reduce them quickly.””

So the crime is now affecting the grand poobahs and elites and they don’t like it.
So sad.

I wouldn’t be a cop in a democrat controlled craphole for all the gold supposedly in Fort Knox.

The new top cop overloaded my gay radar.

Maybe, but I doubt these thugs are going to view that as something that would protect her from attack.

Baltimore cops have a justified reputation for corruption and criminal behavior themselves. While I’m sure most cops are average good guys, there are enough bad ones so that I’m not so quick to defend them.

A little hint for the Junta in Baltimore. That city is so packed with criminals that the police have to be very active to knock it down. After putting six cops on trial for radically bumped up charges, that will never happen. Get used to your crime rates.

Yes, but complaints of police brutality are down. Isn’t that all that matters?

I LOVED that show The Wire, the last season was not as good as the previous seasons but it was a great show and truly portrayed Baltimore as it is!!!! There is not enough money in the world to be a cop in that cesspool!!!

In the Navy the captain is always responsible for his ship, even when sleeping.

“Lack of fathers and being taught right and wrong.”

Yes! The police are not the problem in most of our big cities. Actually, I don’t know why anyone would want to be a cop in Baltimore, Detroit, St. Louis, etc.
