We're just one day away from a government shutdown as Republicans desperately work to find the votes for a stop-gap spending measure on Capitol Hill. All week, Democrats have been pointing fingers at GOP lawmakers and arguing if a government shutdown does in fact happen, it will be all their fault.
But according to a Democrat aide who spoke to NBC News, the goal is for Democrats to come up with enough votes to stop the funding measure from going through. In other words, they just admitted their goal is to shutdown the government, not to avert it as they've been claiming. They've also put the brakes on any kind of compromise that doesn't include amnesty for illegal aliens currently covered by DACA.

Meanwhile, the White House expressed support Wednesday afternoon for the short-term continuing resolution.
"The President certainly doesn't want a shutdown, and if one happens I think you only have one place to look and that's to the Democrats who are holding our military and our national security hostage by trying to push through other policies that have nothing to do with the budget," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said during the briefing Wednesday. "It takes 60 votes, and Republicans don't have 60 votes. So Democrats either need to decide that they're going to come here to do their jobs, and they're going to govern, and they're going to put our national security ahead of their own personal, political agendas, or they're not. It's really simple."
"That's a decision you're going to have to ask the Democrats what's more important -- national security or political agendas? I can't answer that for you," she continued.
I could be wrong, but I assume he’s thinking during a shutdown gov’t workers won’t be working.
Maybe the democrats want the gov’t shutdown so the IG report won’t come out exposing their corruption of the deep state.

Weather is an Act of God. The failure of the Congress to act certainly isn’t. Do you hate government workers so badly that you would punish them because the democrats want to make a political point?
Geesh...you ALL get PAID after the shutdown...geesh louise....you all get time off...PAID!!!
Some government workers wont. Active duty? We work. The last time it was pretty irritating knowing I was at work (even though pay day had already come and I knew it would be fixed before the next one) and all the GS employees were furloughed....which means they were basically getting a day off and would get paid for it when the CR or budget was passed. Even IF the shutdown went through my next payday (and if this one does) I still have to be at work. No paid vacation like a GS employee.
Oh, don’t believe that aide. He’s about to commit “suicide”.

Geesh Louise you cant read. No we dont. Not active duty military. We will still work. That isnt the point if you will bother to read the post history. The poster suggested I should not get paid as an worker of the government. Now, being a member of the military, I will still have to work, and thus he was saying I should work for nothing as a member of the military, as should all the other members of the military, including the guys right now fighting. So...perhaps you should read a little before you post.

Not always. In the shutdown prior to the one in 2013, there were no reimbursements for time lost.
I even disagree with that. I think they should be paid too because its not their choice to be furloughed, its the idiots in DC. However, I also dont think they should be FORCED to sit at home. They should also be working and be comped later like me.
Why the hell our we paying for "NON ESSENTIAL" government employees?
YES
No compromise, no quarter.
To end this crap it has to hurt everyone.... not just the little people, but everyone in gov, good or bad.
It’s always a shame that the innocent suffer because of the actions of the swamp.
Vote against.
Good.
Dims will shut down the Federal Government to protect Illegal Aliens.
Even I could write those ads.
And, while they’ll get their 41 votes to block...that caucus will quickly crumble and their party will split like a watermelon dropped from the truck within two weeks.
IF, IF the Republicans are smart enough to hold on.
And that’s a very big IF.
It’s not the construction worker’s choice not to work on a rainy day or when his employer is out of money. I guess we better pay them too.
This government NEEDS to be shutdown until they can clean out all the crooks!
