A group called (“New California”) has taken its first step towards carving the Golden State in two – issuing a “declaration of independence” which would incorporate most of the state’s rural counties – while coastal counties from the northern San Francisco Bay Area to the southern tip of Los Angeles would remain part of the existing state.

“The current state of California has become governed by a tyranny, which rivals those stated above. It is time to take action. The Duty of the People who are suffering the long train of abuses and usurpations at the hands of a tyrannical government is to abolish and make new a government by the People and for the people under GOD. State Splitting Process of California The process begins when a state’s legislature first votes to split the state. Once the measure, in the form of a resolution, passes both the California Assembly and Senate, it is submitted to Congress.”
New California State is being developed as the 51st State of the Union as a state ‘split’ from California following Article IV Section 3 and Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution.

I can see much of Washington State doing the same.
All my family are here. Note: We are conservative and did all vote for President Trump. If this happens maybe we won’t have to move to Arizona.
What is interesting is the local news in DC had this on last night. Typically these pushes are ignored in media.

Wasted effort. Just focus on fixing California instead of DOA publicity steps that do more discredit than anything else. Face it, the chance of splitting California is 0.0000000000000000001 percent. Ain’t happening. The majority of residents, the tyranny of the majority, would never go along with it.
It would wind up in SCOTUS.
If Breyer, Kennedy and Ginsburg are replaced by real conservatives,it COULD happen.
Their website is weak on details.

I could support if not a scam by some attorneys to create an unaccomplishable outcome
Interestingly, they will control most of the water in the state.

Sacramento will NEVER go for this! my guess is that when these folks get laughed out of town they may try to pull a West Virginia. You never know what may happen.
Most importantly it would likely end the dem party without all of Californias counted on electoral votes.
Unconstitutional. Clearly states no state may be divided to make a new state. WV being created by Lincoln should not have been allowed.
This is one I never thought of and should have. This is actually constitutional? I know that West Virginia did it so...
I am all for that. The I-5 corridor and West, East of I-5 starting at the foothills of the Cascades (East half of Clark County where I am) 2 States. Let Jay Inslee have his liberal utopia and half as many electoral votes. Heck with it, no need to make a new state, we will just become a larger Idaho and add to their electoral votes. (I love me some Idaho!)
.......or dems will migrate to New California giving dems a super majority. I don’t see it ending well.
