Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) endorsed Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) in a video on Tuesday to challenge Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) in the 2018 midterm election.
In a video endorsing Barletta, Sen. Toomey called Barletta a trusted conservative and a relentless fighter for hardworking Pennsylvanians.
No one in the House of Representatives has been more committed to fighting to protect our borders or to ending dangerous sanctuary city policies than Lou Barletta, Toomey declared.
When we recently needed an ally in the House to pass the most sweeping tax reforms in a generation, Lou was there every step of the way, Toomey argued. Its time we all unite behind Lou and support him with our time, our energy, and most of all, with our vote.
Congressman Barletta announced in August that he hopes to challenge Sen. Bob Casey in the 2018 midterm election. Barletta, a staunch opponent of illegal immigration since his time as mayor of Hazelton, Pennsylvania, told Breitbart News that he wants to put America First and Pennsylvania workers first.
In an exclusive interview, Barletta told Breitbart News that if he were in the Senate, he could be the difference, just that one vote, to repeal Obamacare, secure Americas borders, and stop illegal immigration.

Toomey is a notch or two above Jeff Flake on the RINO totem pole.
I’m surprised that two-faced Toomey is endorsing Barletta.
I guess he wants to appear to be on the side of the citizens and the rule of law.
The race is heating up.
I’m not in PA but support Lou. One of the 2018 candidates I really feel good about.
“Toomey is a notch or two above Jeff Flake on the RINO totem pole.”
He’s actually worse than Flake on gun control. If Toomey wasn’t such a flake (pun intended) on guns, he wouldn’t be *that* bad ... such a shame too given that we had high hopes for him in PA back in 2010.
I have delusions that he’s going to come around this year. This endorsement is a step in the right direction. Still have a long way to go though.
Toomey is a mixed bag. He’s not horrible. He is bad on gun control, which is a surprise for a Pennsylvania senator, and he gets a lot of bad publicity in conservative circles for that. But on other issues he’s not so bad. Not perfect, but not so bad. Certainly better than Specter. In some ways better than Santorum, who had a much more “conservative” reputation than he deserved.
Pennsylvania born and raised. We need Lou Barletta. A very solid conservative.
Barletta is a great guy.
It is very difficult to run as a true conservative in Pennsylvania and win a state wide race. It’s not impossible, but very difficult. This is why I think Toomey would rather be viewed as a moderate, instead of a conservative firebrand.
Barletta would be a fantastic Senator, and even a great Governor, but the Philthadelphia vote fraud is too much to overcome. How I wish Hurricane Katrina had hit Philly instead of New Orleans.
We overcame the voter fraud in PA to elect Donald J Trump President of the United States.
“Barletta is a great guy”
Yes he is, but the open question now becomes who takes Barletta’s seat in the House. The more House incumbents try to step up to the Senate, the more problematic keeping the House becomes. Just hope there is a shoo-in R for Barletta’s seat.
From here in PA I would say that a Toomey endorsement of Barletta is a drag on Barletta.
Barletta is a #MAGA guy, right? I kinda recall that name from DJTs PA rallies.
Trump and Barletta are close and he is obviously supported by the POTUS.
What amazes me is all the other candidates in the race and the sense of “Who put them up to it?”.
That having been said, my preference is for a more conservative candidate.
Barletta got into the US House fully loved and supported by the GOP Establishment figures like Chairman Rob Gleason here in PA.
Thanks for the info Nextrush, I knew the name rang a bell from the PA rallies.
