According to Sports Media Watch, all four games were down substantially in overnight ratings from the comparable window last January, and several of them hit their lowest mark in years. Saturday afternoons Falcons-Eagles game on NBC drew a 17.4 overnight rating, down 5 percent from last year and 12 percent from 2016. It was the lowest for the early Saturday time slot since 2009. The Patriots-Jaguars matchup Sunday night on CBS was the lowest-rated game of the weekend, with a 16.6 overnight. That was down 9 percent from last year and 18 percent from 2016 and was also the worst performance in that window since 2009. The Jaguars-Steelers contest in the early window Sunday on CBS pulled a 20.4 overnight, down 12 percent from 2016. (Last years game in that slot was moved to primetime due to weather.) That was the lowest mark in its window since 2002. Finally, the Vikings-Saints duel Sunday afternoon on Fox drew the best overnight rating of the weekend (21.8) but was still down 23 percent from last year and 17 percent from 2016.

Another ex-Bungle fan here. I really despised Marvin Lewis - even more than Miker Brown. God only knows how he is still a coach for the Bungles.
After they screwed Carson Palmer to placate that joke Ocho-Stinko, I quit the Bungles forever.
I did follow Carson and glad to see he had 5 very good seasons in AZ between the injuries. A good guy with amazing talent that got stuck on a couple of REALLY bad teams/organizations.
I haven't watched, but I'll admit to listening on the radio, when I have nothing better to do.
Me too. Love baseball and everyone stands for the anthem. If you hate where you are. effing leave.
Watching the highlights the next morning takes about 3 minutes ... so I had an entire afternoon of free time for me.
If that weekend of games was down that much, they have an inarguable problem. That was the best, most competitive set four games I can remember. Usually half are runaways.
i figures many fans like me who have withdrawn from the NFL would show up to watch this week. Not as many marquee teams, but good games.
The only way to recover face is for the players to apologize to the fans. Not that they would. And that would be too little too late. But a little groveling would be nice to see anyway.
I quit watching because of the tiresome display of America hating BLM supporting racist players. I missed it a lot. The only thing is, now when I attempt to watch, I quickly lose interest. The thrill is gone, it is like a 57 year fad is now over. The game just does not “have IT” any longer for me. That is the risk when Coke comes out with a new recipe, or the NFL decides to place a woman on every sideline, have grown men wear pink, treat 25 year old men like 8 year olds with concussion protocols and rules making contact abhorrent, get rid of kickoff return opportunities, no contact practices, , salary caps so a great team can turn into a loser in a few years, part time referees, horrible announcers, too many commercials, and so called music in the Stadiums and in promos that offends the ear.
It’s not that I broke down to watch them, but I did watch them. Most of the games. I was stranded. Homebound with flu, and medicated. So yeah, I watched the playoff games this weekend.
After missing it the whole year, I would NOT say I’ve been missing it. lol I know that now even more than before. It’s nothing but a flipping barrage of commercials (often the same f’n ones over and over) with football inter-dispersed among them. The only time I really got interested was the end of the vikings/saints game, and yes it even provided a dramatic ending, but don’t consider me hooked. I’m not. It’s just a commercial face slamming. If I wasn’t zombified on severe cold/flu drugs, I never would have been able to stayed still for all that.
It’s okay. We understand. You were medicated. we know what that does to a persons self control.
Heh heh heh.
They were total crap until Dan took over and a guy from the Baltimore Colts came to coach them.
I slept....even through my home team Pats game.
Wasn’t Saturday when Trump called CNN Fake News? Yea, that must be it - distracted MILLIONS of NFL viewers to the point of forgetting about the playoff game that night.
Hmmm, not completely sure. Let me take a knee as I think it over.
How does watching NFL change anyone’s life? It is an absolute waste of time!
Pleased to say that I didn’t watch at all, even though the Pats (my favorite team) and Philly (my home town team) are doing great things.
This is bigger than my desire to watch them play.
Hmmm. I thought the Pats beat the TITANS on SATURDAY night. By halftime, the game was not really in doubt, so a lot of people (me included) turned on something else.
I felt good about watching the Vikings once I saw not one of their players has protested the anthem.
Would be a great finish if they were to win it all.
