I plan on keeping my 2004 Yukon for a long time. When it needs new guts I will replace them.
My most reliable, by far, is a 1956 Studebaker President. Followed by a ‘99 Lincoln Town car, a 98 Mark 8, and a 92 Suburban. (Technically, the Suburban is completely rebuilt.)
Highlander or CRV
You can have one of those DVD players installed in almost any vehicle these days if you can’t get it as an option from the dealer.
” makes me question their methodology”
Yep, definitely must be their methodology.....
Well, our ‘98 Corvette is on the list...kinda. Our original ‘62 Impala isn’t.
I have a Prius...best car I have EVER had. I have a 4 hour daily commute and the car is still running like new after six years...er, except for the air conditioner, which died in September! But for day to day reliability, I love it.
Toyota
On my second Nissan Frontier (2006), only traded in my 2000 Frontier with 212,000 on it because it was 2WD and I was tired of putting on chains. The 2006 has 133,000 on it and since I changed my job last year, my commute is now 6 miles each way.
Eleven years ago, one of our son’s got an early inheritance of my OJ Simpson 1996 Full Size Bronco with the big V8, with 100,000 miles on it.
He has added another 100,000 miles, replaced 3 sets of Tires, 3 batteries and had basic oil changes/lubes. 3 Tuneups/which he does. His local Ford dealer said with the same care and driving, it should last 10 more years and another 100,000 miles.
About twice a week, he finds notes on his windshield with offers to buy it.
3 out of 10 Toyota again. May be a hint in there.
Not if you have ever owned a tacoma, or any toyota.
Mine is currently 15, and his was 18 last year when we “traded” for new. Yes, we bought those 2 new.
Neither - model nor make - on the list.
Do not think the Toyota Land Cruiser is even sold here these days, may be a part of why people hang onto them.
That is a lot of time on the road!
Do you ever listen to podcasts?
Buick is highly prized by asia now
I think it’s a tenuous assumption from “keeping” to “reliable”. Just because one doesn’t KEEP a car doesn’t mean it wasn’t reliable, or won’t keep living for the next owner.
My Honda Pilot, new in October 2003 has 260,000 runs great.
Or maybe ‘The Cars Most Likely to be Bought by Thrifty Middle-Income People’?
The BMW or the Porsche might well last for decades, but who want to be seen in a 5-year-old model? Not the sort of big shot who buys one, that’s for sure.
Our 2000 Silverado runs great, but managed to get a cracked frame.
I'll never buy another vehicle.
