• Morning AB, All. As always, thank you AB for doing this thread so reliably and keeping the peace with gentle thread policing. Thank you Bray for weekly written wisdom, Thank all yon contributors for excellent commentary to flesh it all out.

Meanwhile, please note that the New Year’s Freepathon is now upon. Time to throw in a few bucks, folks. We here on the Sunday political talk show thread use this forum as much as money, so throw in a $20 or more.

Well worth it not to have to deal with endless advertisement.

I did not do a daily column last week but I did pay close attention and have some remarks.

Last week we had somebody, somewhere, refer to certain places on this planet as “shitholes”.

For whatever reason, the angels amongst us complained and blamed President Trump.

I watch shows like “Amazing Race” and such that feature visits to other countries. I am always surprised at how awful the landscape is….even the urban landscape.

First, everybody rides around on a motorbike of some kind, weaving in and out of traffic and bringing a danger that would never be allowed in America. Many of the houses are hovels, falling apart as they sit snug upon each other.

At times you observe locals obtaining water from a public well using dirty containers. I often wonder how the hell people can live like this. Here in America, our homeless live better than this.

Anyway, Trump denies referring to poor countries as “Sh*tholes” and nobody around here much blames him.

Recently we had some kind of alarm go out in the state of Hawaii, warning of imminent attack while the idiots blame President Trump because….well it’s what they do. Trump had nothing to do with that Hawaiian screw up but the rule of the libs…if something bad happens, always blame Trump.

Finally, it was Golden Globe time last week and write this down yon readers…I WILL NEVER WATCH ANOTHER HOLLYWOOD AWARD SHOW…..EVER!

I’ve had it with these people, all groping each other, applauding child molesters and soon, we shall Oprah Winfrey running for President.

Which brings me to a story with a smile.

Heh.

I was, indeed, once interviewed by Oprah Winfrey.

Y’all do know she spent a couple years in Baltimore, right? She hosted the local news show and was part of a nightly documentary type thing called “People Are Talking”.

That’s the show I was one serving as a Representative for “Parents Without Partners”.

It was in the late 70’s. My husband and father of my little girl had died the year prior. I joined that organization meant to help single-parents move on with their lives, while giving their children time with out children of single parents.

Winfrey had a big Afro at the time as it was all the rage.

She came out to discuss our scheduled on-air discussion and what can I say? She was very nice, sweet and good at her job.

I was on air about maybe five minutes.

And of course we must not forget my childhood friend, Nancy Pelosi, she who’s house was remodeled by mine own father while my brother and I played in Baltimore’s Little Italy. Her name was Nancy D’Alesandro at the time, her father Mayor of Baltimore, my father shop steward of Carpenter’s union Local 101.

It’s possible Pelosi might remember me as my brother and I spent a lot of time at her house.

Thus it’s my claim to fame, insert smile here.

People Are Talking.

Who was Oprah's co-host? ;-)
