Agree Rod, but you don’t toss out an exoneration theory for HRC accidentally. No matter how good her source, it defies credibility. She of all the the crusaders should know that.

Sure seems like something happened to her. Sundance was very reluctant, and sad, to call her out, but she is now significantly damaged. How does she recover from this?

I’m a little late this year but bird feeders and suet cages are all up.

Took two hours but soon enough we had titmouses, chickadees, and a wren....the only bird that sings in winter.

Of course a squirrel-rodent soon enough found the goodies. My dogs love to chase the squirrel-rodents just as soon as I open the sliding door. The cats sit by the glass door all day to watch the birds and squirrel-rodents.

Makes my day just to sit and watch all the critters.

Also, dark-eyed Juncos, Soon the cardinals will come and a dog might catch a squirrel-rodent.

Don’t understand butter milk with crumbled corn bread, do not get blackeyed peas in any incarnation.

purple hulled peas are acceptable

Well, that batch of grits I got at Great Lakes was

1) Served up around 9:30PM by a cook who seemed a tad irritated about having his TV time interrupted by actual work.

2) Still in a great big mixer bowl right fresh out of the freezer, no condiments or utensils in sight.

...I’m afraid that combination soured me on both grits and Navy cooks for good. (My opinion of the cooks only got lower after getting stuck in Training Commands for most of my “career”....)

Maybe we’ll do some running a bit south of Denver this next summer and try some REAL grits, just on your recommendation.

...never too late to learn things.

Cooks in the sub fleet were OK, but I share your lack of enthusiasm for the “Grit”

Hell we had cornbread in the north, Chicken fried steak and all, folks down south get most animated about some odd staples,

I suspect that’s all there was....

In the North we would take cornmeal and mix that with pig scraps all ground tight and fry that and douse it in maple syrup

Grits indeed LOL

Soon the cardinals will come and a dog might catch a squirrel-rodent.

Squirrel-rodent? Well, my Dad always called 'em Tree Rats...

As far as Signs of Spring are concerned, I'm going to have to wait for that two feet of snow in the yard to at least begin to melt. Which is going to be a while, since the last forecast I saw said we could get another 3-6 inches in the next couple days and I haven't seen a Tree Rat in public since Thanksgiving....

Friend of mine in town was musing the other day about going out and buying a snow blower, in fact. Only drawbacks beside "bein' plumb spendy" (aka expensive in MontanaSpeak) was that he didn't have a place to store it and "I know damn well that I do buy one and that'll be the last snow I see."

I think he finally settled on corralling one of his grandkids and having him shovel....

I should have added; Republicans, too, agree they'll lose the house which is causing those R retirements. But, remember, these are dems reporting, so it's all subject to scrutiny.

The one lone conservative, Lowry, Natl Review, predicted this sheethole controversy blows over quickly like all the previous.

CBS says trust and cooperation has been damaged for the whole year...nothing will get done.

We'll see, won't we ? If DACA expires March 5, who'll take the heat ? Not DjT for trying to fix this into law. I have read that applications had been stopped upon DjT's earlier orders, but have now resumed. What's up with that ?

Valium to watch the Sunday shows today.

I don't watch TV, but I thought a happy pill was standard issue for watching the Sunday circuses :)

My dad used to crumble corn bread into buttermilk with a scoop of sugar. It was the Depression era version of dessert. He loved it.

Cooks in the sub fleet were OK

It was held amongst us Permanent Shore Duty types that Navy cooks who were anything but outstanding and got put on board anything got out of sight of dry land had two options:

Become outstanding

Request Shore Duty (before you "accidentally" fell overboard...or, in the case of bubbleheads, didn't make it out of New London).
