Controversial former Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Wednesday called former President Barack Obama's birth certificate a "phony document" in an interview on CNN.
"No doubt about it, we have the evidence, I'm not going to go into all the details, yeah, it's a phony document," Arpaio said on "Cuomo Primetime."
Arpaio announced Tuesday that he is running for the Arizona US Senate seat currently occupied by Sen. Jeff Flake, who is retiring from Congress at the end of his term.
He was a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump during the campaign, and was pardoned by the President in August. The former Maricopa County sheriff was convicted for defying a court order to stop racially profiling Latinos, and he has been widely criticized for his hard-line stances on immigration.
Arpaio has touted "birtherism" in the past, and, when speaking to CNN's Chris Cuomo on Wednesday evening, said he has proof that Obama's birth certificate is fake.
"We have the evidence, nobody will talk about it, nobody will look at it, and anytime you want to come down or anybody we'll be glad to show you the evidence," Arpaio said.
Cuomo pressed Arpaio again on the topic: "So you believe that President Obama's birth certificate is a phony?"
"No doubt about it," Arpaio said.

Obama’s birth certificate may be phony, but its time to move on. Obama isn’t president any more and talking about it in a Senate campaign is useless.

People should not still be claiming that HI HDOH stands by Obama's posted BC. The only person who can legally say anything about that is Alvin Onaka, the Registrar, and he has already given his answer in a legally-binding situation, twice. To my knowledge, there has been no retraction thereof.
What exactly do you propose as a course of action? The courts declined to hear the matter.
Even if O were go live on Hannity and release his supposed Kenyan BC, it would not change a thing.
When one has nothing to hide, then release the birth certificate and all records. Hiding information is a sure sign of an impostor and criminal.

If Joe Arpaio continues, Obama’s phony documents **will** get the airing they deserve.
“Belief” has nothing to do with it. The documents **are** forgeries.

If Arpaio’s candidacy exposes the Obama forgery to the vast majority of Americans it will be worth a Senate seat.
When it comes to **Truth** it is never too late. And...Conservatives should never “move on” from Truth.
And Democrat Doug Jones is Alabama's newest senator while Barack Obama served two complete terms as President.
No, it won't. Losing another Senate seat is a disaster. Nobody gives a shit about Obama's birth certificate.
