California Board of Equalization Member Diane Harkey is running to replace retiring Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) in the U.S. House of Representatives, multiple sources confirmed to Breitbart News on Wednesday.
Harkey has previously served as a Member of the California State Assembly and currently serves as the highest-ranking elected Republican in the state as the Chairof the State Board of Equalization (BOE). She was elected to the BOE in 2014.
Harkey represents 9.5 million constituents in her BOE district, which encompasses San Diego, Orange, Riverside, and Imperial counties, as well as part of San Bernardino County. Her BOE district includes Issas congressional district. She won election to her BOE seat with over 61 percent of the vote.

Another rat bailing out.
Board of Equalization?
Is her work chair a seesaw?
The matrix has been exposed and many Reps. Are getting out of town. They probably feel that we’re too far gone?
Her name has been appearing on the ballots in the past. Voters have a habit of voting for her. Name recognition helps.
That must be how Californians continue to elect buffoons: election by pity.
Issa won re-election in 2014 by 20 percentage points. He won re-election in 2016 by six/tenths of a percentage point. I think the demographics in his district have changed and that any Republican has their work cut out for them.

Demographics don’t change that much in two years. I live in SoCal I know the Two factors led to Issa getting by the skin of his ass in 2016:
1) Many Republicans in Issas own district are tired of him.
2) Anti Trump sentiment in California is off the charts. Even about 20% of California Republicans hate Trump. So Never Trumpers came out in droves in 2016 to vote for Hillary and they voted for Democrats in other offices too.
Isaas district is still about R +5, certainly not a Republican as in the past, but still leans R. If the Republicans can find a strong candidate, they could still hold the seat
Yep. In my area they go from leftist community activist, to city council, to state assembly, to state board of equalization, school district, state senate, and on and on. That is how we got Jerry Brown.
I remember Jerry Brown being Gov when I was a kid living there. The only interest I had in him was that he was dating Linda Ronstadt and she hung around with the Eagles.
